the way it should be. everyone proven guilty in jail serving a life sentence = death within 1 week of notification, enough time to say good bye to loved ones, make there piece with god etc. anyone convicted too a (life sentence) would be put on death row for one week, then off to the chair. Does this not sound right?

why is there a life sentence? someone please explain the logic behind this, because I honestly can't figure it out.

It's called Prison Guard Unions!

Because the justice system is imperfect and putting one innocent man to death is worse that letting 100 guilty men free.

Ever seen the movie "The Hurricane?"

lol bad example!

How long is a life sentance anyways? Is it actually a life or is it a certain amount of years? Find it odd that people usually get more than one life sentance.

A man wrongfully accused of murder rotting away in prison and his eventual vindication 30 years after.

If things worked the way you wanted them to work, he would have been wearing a wooden tuxedo for nothing else than being a balck male in the south.

Is that a film with Denzel washington?
It is a great movie.

that was then, this is now. I'm talking about now days, when someone is convicted(without a doubt) that would cut the prison population in half

It is amazing how can you think like that.

how could anyone be against it? if someone killed your wife, and kids(if or when you ahve them) your saying the person shouldn't be put to death? there are thousands and thousands of people that have "PROOF" against them. there are thousands that pleed guilty to murder.

Well, i'm just against the death penalty.
And i also question the life sentence itself.

You are saying that murder is okay. That is the problem. You are murdering someone because they murdered someone. Do you not see the hypocrisy?

I would probably wanted to see him death. Still it doesn't mean it would be right to do it or would make justice.
It woudn't bring them back.

I dont know man, I dont see it that way. if someone shoots at a cop they dont have the right to shoot back? they dont have the right to kill this man that is shooting at him? it is the law, eveyone knows the law, just dont brake it, simple as that. if you take someones life, yours should be taken as punishment(if convicted without a doubt) what good are they when they get out in 25 years? they are just harder, meaner, and more eligible to kill again(in most cases) If my father was to kill a man for no reason, i believe he should die as well.

Self-defense is not the same as premeditated murder.

I think that's besides the point, I'm just saying the law is the law. from trafic tickets to murder, it should be held against that person if they did the crime.

And don't you think there are laws which are completely insane? Pot and steriods are illegal because of retarted anto-drug laws.

Just because something "breaks the law" doesn't make it evil or wrong.

Who determines whether there is doubt? To be convicted there should have been no reasonable doubt. However, look up the name Fred Zane on Google. He was a forensic chemist for the state police department in my state. He was testifying at trials giving forensic evidence that convicted people and they later found that he was either not performing the lab tests properly or in some cases he wasn't performing the tests at all.

I heard that he may actually be guilty.

Want to cut the prison population in 1/2, or more, release the drug users.
