Your task monitor is probably setup to scan your disk at that time. Just double click your task scheduler icon in the lower right hand corner. It looks like a calender with a clock on top of it. You can reset your task times.
no its not running a scandisk or anything, nor is it a scheduled task, it just randomly runs, like if you were to double click on the a drive in filemanager without a disk. Like its trying to read off a:

My computer does this shit, too, and I still don't understand Shrebly's explanation. My computer will do it while I am not even on it. I finally just put a blank disk in the a: drive....this took care of it...
