Why dont doctors prescribe steroids?

Doctors should prescribe steroids to patients who request them. Steroids are not cooked up in someones basement by some guy claiming to be a chemist. The media and the govt is blowing the baseball thing way out of porportion. They are made in labratories by the same scientists who come up with all the other medications on the market today. Making them legal to those who desire them would have many positive effects.

Self medication would lessen. I know many kids who get a cycle and have no idea what to do with them and waste the cycle along with damaging their bodies. Second, the drug companies would benefit greatly from this (not that anyone cares about that). The use of theire drugs would become widespread. The police and govt could focus on more harmful drugs. After all its not like people take steroids to get high.

The benefits go on and on but I have said enough.

Some doctors do. A big reason I think is because of the stigma that's attached.

I think it is easier if you go to see an endocrinologist. (sp?) They are usually pretty good with the whole process. I procrastinate, but I definately will go one of these days to "justify" sortof speak my usage. Just not ready...

A doctor who prescribes steroids in super-physiological doses is either stupid or desperate.
He would be risking his license.
Doctor can only prescribe testosterone in tiny, replacement doses.
In Illinois, it is illegal for any doctor to prescribe steroids to a patient except where it is medically justified. Specifically prohibited to use it for body building.

My prediction - they will now.
I believe this whole crackdown on steroid thing is a move by the drug companies once again. Why else would the US congress be involved in this. The drug companies are their largest lobbyists in the world. I believe when the drug companies got wind that there are approximately 6million users nation wide of steroids, they decided they want in! Due to the publicity that steroids have now received, the amount of interest by individuals to use them now is going to grow expodentially. The way to get them is by way of male enhancement/restoration. I guarantee you see commercials in the next year all over the place advertising "testosterone therapy" for underactive men. I can see it now "Due to the daily stress in your life related to work, lack of sleep, food additives and even the environment, testosterone levels have been shown to decrease markedly amoung the entire male and even female population over the past 20years. A proper level of testosterone is a necessary in our lives to maintain sexual interest, confidence, and overall health. Contact your doctor if you believe you have symptoms of testosterone depression to see if testosterone therapy is right for you. TRUST ME ON THIS - YOU WATCH.

Drug companies make money by producing drugs that are patenable. They have created some very dangerous drugs that do little more than asperine. Body builders have been using drugs that if used correctly would put most of your doctors and drug companies out of biz. Most of your injuries are repetitive movement injuries. That means the muscles are not healing fast enough. BIG BIG BIG money is made off of these injuries. Whole insurance companies make their billions off insuring these types of injuries. We are dealing with the MOB here guys. The American Medical, Drug, and Insurance MOB. Did you know that in America you no longer can just go into the dentist and have a tooth pulled. They have to do a full mouth work up that costs hundreds, then the dentist will decided if the tooth can be saved, then you have to pay the cost of saving that stupid tooth.
If a tooth causes me pain I go to Mexico and have that sucker pulled then I go home and pound that tooth with a hammer.
I might have a hundred thousand dollar mouth job comming in the next few years.
I told my dentist I was going to learn how to pull my own teeth on the internet, he didn't laugh.

I think the only people doctors prescribe steroids for are those with AIDS (besides test). If you really want a doc to prescribe you steroids, then go get your test level checked...if it's low, ask about HRT.

i went to my doctor and asked him for test. He said no. We discussed HRT and he told me that very very few people really qualify for HRT and that I'd have to display really obvious symptoms of a test deficiency before he would consider it, like have no pubic hair etc.....

there is no money in it form drug companies.


Hense, no drug reps are going to the doctors saying "persribe x amount of test this month, and your family goes on a free week vacation."

If they cant have exclusive rights to it, there is no money in it. IF theres no money it it, they dont push it like a pimp to a cracked out junkie. If docs dont get a free vacation out of it, they wont perscribe it.
