why do conservatives believe X

i'm largely apolitical but most conservatives i know hate the ACLU & the UN. Someone tell me why. What have they done.

What about environmentalists, or peace keepers? why hate them.

Their hating the ACLU is stupid and ideological, they should take a second look.

Their hating the UN has merit - it's an organization designed to take control from national governments.

They hate environmentalists because the envos try to do right but go about it wrongly and some are extremists (true of any belief).

They hate peace keepers because...?

For conversative parties usually the interest of big business is the most important. Environmentalist are bad for enterprises because the cause additional costs. At least that´s how it is where i live.

The ACLU, at it's core, is a good thing.

Problem is, the ACLU leadership is fickle and contradictory...they want equality but promote bizzare concepts like racial quotas.

Problem with the UN is that it is nothing more than a high school clique gone terribly wrong. It's a very large, very powerful bully. I'm guessing, but I'd wager a massive amount of global debt is owed to the UN.

The UN has it's own bill of rights, which can easily be abused and in many cases remove most of our (US citizens) rights granted by Our Bill of Rights.

For more Anti-UN info, I suggest this(rather extreme) site .

The same reason people believe anything. They hear someone talking on TV or whatever and internalize what they say as their own thoughts, constructing a belief system that will tell them what to think on each issue.

Easier than actually thinking and doing your own research.

Not sure I follow you exactly, dgree. Just because he obviously lied about his toking habits doesn´t mean he lies about everything.

Almost forgot about that one, though. Your stroll down Bill Clinton memory lane had me laughing out loud.:goof:

being libertarian i hate the u.n. cause of it's hidden agenda to take over world governments and form it's own one world government. yes i heard it on tv but you can also use common sense and see what they are trying to do.

i hate the aclu because they claim to defend people's rights yet they only choose to defend those who they feel are worthy. christians and conservative folk are out so they get left behind. hypocritical.

i don't hate enviro activists, they just tend to go overboard at times, most people do for that fact.

i don't hate peace keepers but i do not care to hear peace when sick freaks are flying planes into our buildings killing innocent people from all over the world, not just the u.s.

call me what you want, i don't care. i think the u.s. needs to pull out of the u.n. and though it won't happen, i wish the aclu would disappear. but since they won't go away they need to rethink their idea of what civil liberties and equal rights are. they got their priorities mixed up.

That might be the best answer ever!

But Greenhill I think RELIGION is the PERFECT example of this!

Not trying to fight a flame was cause I am low on ammo, little too many sleeping pills... Mostly I was just curious why you thought it was a good answer..... If you want a flame war...... It may have to wait until tomorrow.

That is like saying every priest is a child molestor..comeon man..

Remember when I told you to go back to rhetoric class? This is your hallmark. Fabricating arguments that I never made and then trying to refute the fabrication.

If it was..everyone would like chocholate icecream.

Bogus analogy.

actually aurelius your statement prooves your point.. Bill Clinton illustrated continually untill he was impeached the very point that you made.

Clinton was impeached because he lied under oath in a judicial proceeding while holding the highest executive office in the U.S.

One may justify his debasement of the Office, his dalliances and indiscretions, his blatant insincerity and immorality, his pardoning for money, his renting-out of the Lincoln bedroom, the numerous allegations of rape and sexual harassment made against him, his mistreatment of his aides and supporters, his theft of White House furniture, etc. on the basis of some perverse personal affection for him. But its hard to believe that any right-thinking person could justify a sitting President lying under oath, independent of subject or motivation.
