Why do Asians pick up worms?

On rainy days, without fail, there is a man of Asian decent wandering around the parking lot at work picking worms off the ground and relocating them to a grassy area. I've heard that in some cultures that the dead come back as worms but you cant expect me to buy this?

I've seen shows where Bhuddists sweep with a broom in front of
them wherever they walk, as to not step on any bugs.

PS>>>it's ok to stick electrical prods into the ground when it's wet and shock them so they rise to the surface then put a hook thru their guts and let them get ate alive though. It's not ok to let them commit suicide, then they cant get into worm heaven.
