Why are we rescuing these 'evacuees'???

or shall I say, citizens of convenience.

Would we worry about dumbass citizens who go to Iraq now to live? Should we 'rescue' them to? What about North Korea?

This is lebanon soil, not american soil - technically it's not our responsiblity to get on FOREIGN soil and parade people out. Do we rescue people out of the ghetto and put them in nice neighborhoods, cuz it's dangerous?

Secondly - a lot of these people are american, canadian, english by 'convenience'. Some haven't lived back here in decades. Pay NO taxes and don't even speak english. Why should we pay for them to come here, then pay for them to go back?

Citizenship doesn't mean we have to rescue you from a land YOU took up residence in. Tourists yes, citizens by convenience - no.

calm raz0r, calm. go watch TV and laugh at Taylor Hicks, it'll make you feel better. did I order the right hoodia or what you never answered my PM?

razor is edgy because he is suffering from manorexia from too much hoodia. LOL. I agree with bran. LIGHTEN UP. lol

you think that bothers you?

try listening to your neighbor sing "If you want my body" remixed all morning.....

evacuate me!!!

LOL

I dont mind the evacuation, but it would be interesting to know how many are there because America was such an awful place to live.

1) Don't they have to make it to the US embassy first? I think we have some legistlated obligation to get citizens out during times of crisis.

2) They have to reimburse the government at the commercial rate plus one dollar for their evacuation -- I'm pretty sure that's the law too.

I'm trying to remember where I saw something in the news recently that this rule was waived.

In a way yes I think we should evacuate the ones that are over there for school purposes. Yet, the ones that sit there and want to move there have made that choice to live there. We should not evacuate the ones that decide to live there

but i doubt they fill out a form when moving there saying that they renounce their citizenship, etc. sure they made the choice, and if they choose to stay, then they won't be forced on the plane nor do they have to even show up to be evacuated.

No they dont fill out a form saying that they renounce their citizenship. However if they choose to move to another country to live shouldnt they be the other countries responsibility now?

if you take up RESIDENCE in another country, and don't show evidence of paying us taxes (which us citizens are sitll req'd to do) they should be left at the port with a 'c ya'.
