Am I missing something here? What is the use in taking fructose with slin????

Fructose is said to be best in restoring depleted glycogen stores post workout. Don´t really know if it´s true, though.

Might have something to do with fructose being the fastest sugar to enter the bloodstream, due to its molecular size it goes through undetected

Incorrect.

Fructose is very very low glycemic and has very little effect on blood sugar levels.

Fructose is ONLY good at replenishing LIVER glycogen stores.

Only after the liver is completely full with glycogen, will fructose start to have an impact on muscle glycogen stores and blood sugar levels. :)

Glucose/dextrose (same thing, different names) is the fastest sugar to enter the blood stream.

Maltodextrin is a complex carb (not a simple sugar), however,

it enters the bloodstream even faster than glucose.

(glucose being 100 on a glycemic index chart with maltodextrin being labeled as 103)

You are not missing anything.

Using fructose after insulin is not a good ideat at all.

(If it is used, it should not be counted in your count of carbs in the post insulin shot)

i.e. 10 carbs per iu, but DON'T count carbs coming from fructose.

fructose works fine for me if im feeling the least bit hypo...actually a nice talll glasss of fruit juice makes the hypo go away faster than a glass of dextrose water with 75 grams of dextrose....

Artificial fructose has some differences that make it a "no no", but I forget why. Real stuff goes to the liver though as mentioned.

no no no...do not use fructose postworkout unless you want to get fat and starve your muscle's from glycogen replacement. As mentioned above Fructose ONLY replaces liver glycogen and the excess is immediately stored as fat. THE REST IS IMMEADIATELY STORED AS FAT! Fructose has no influence on restoring muscle glycogen it's worthless in my opionion.

Exactly man...youd think people so-called advanced enough to use slin would at least have a basic fucking understanding of nutrition...

what i was using fructose for was to get me out of hypo..which it does....i was not talking about replenishing muscle glycogen...dont get angry just cuz your scared of slin man....:bawling:

LOL .... I am scared of it and rightfully so, but I am going to be using it in about 5 weeks.

i have a very small amount of fructose in my post workout drink only for the purpose of replenishing liver glycogen. basically anything other than that is turned into fat. OJ is loaded with fructose so i usually try to stay away from it.

Obviously fructose is a bad idea for post workout or with slin. But, I don't understand how it would make you fat any other time (say by eating bananas or apples as a snack). Is there some good science to this idea. Would someone explain it?

I know it is simplified, but I've always believed that since fructose is like 17 on the glucose scale, then it would produce very very little insulin response. Which, would be good, I think, during times way after a workout or insulin use, such as between meals. Making fructose good for more "even" energy levels (good anit-catabolic effect) and eventually (when liver glycogen is replenished) muscle replenishment. But, how would it make you fat?
