i'VE had one, wasn't a big deal. Didn't hurt and I didn't have any soreness or swelling. My boss had one, but his was alot worse, he had to take a day off work because of it.

no not at all. they're awesome. if youre having extreme pain, the root canal will relieve the pain. you wont feel anything except the 10 inch needle they jam into the roof of your mouth to numb it

I have had two. It's not that bad unless your dentist is a sadist and doesn't numb you up very well. Just make sure he/she numbs you up well, and it is entirely worth the bottle of vicodin you get at the end...lol.

Yeah, they numb you so you'll be OK.

I used to get nausea when they numbed me because it turns out I get a reaction to the numbing stuff they give you. Now I have to ask them NOT to give me norepinephrine (sp?). Now I'm good but for years I had trouble with that stuff.

why so many

genetically, I have very "soft" teeth which essentially means not a lot of enamel to protect them from decay. my son suffers from it as well. at age 4 he was having more than one root canal (baby teeth mind you) and extractions. and yes, we brush our teeth LOL

Honestly? Giving birth was easier and less painfull... and I did that four times.

I had ONE root canal and it was a motherfucking nightmare.

I have fallen asleep during a root canal to be quite honest. Its the pain of the decay in the tooth leading up to the procedure that tends to be the worst part of it all. Once they start drilling, all the pain is released. its wonderful. dont even need vicodin. advil worked fine. i went to work after mine and finished out the day.

Like I've said in my earlier post, I've had a root canal done before. But I didn't have any pain in the tooth leading up to it. I went to the dentist, he said I needed a root canal, and I got one scheduled. I went to some specialist type (not my regular dentist) of dude and he was the one that did it. Honestly, I don't even know what a root canal is, even though I've had one. All I know is they numbed me up, the dentist drilled a hole down into my tooth, and he took some long searing hot needles and stuck them up into the hole. The needles were so hot that smoke would rise up out of my mouth. But I was so numbed up that I could've easily fallen asleep, too.
