Who's got MSDN Subscription access?

That is so cool.

It came in so handy today.

You just login. And can download any Microsoft software you want. Right from the web. No hunting for DVDs.

And in a bind - it can be a huge benefit.

Not sure if they have compact MSDN subscriptions affordable for home users - but for corporate usage - it's so useful.

They used to give Technet subscriptions to MCSE's. They gave you a binder and would mail you the CD's every month. I've still got the binder but I keep other crap in it now.

Yeah I remember those. The "monthly" binders they sent, with different color DVD's with Microsoft software on it.

Probably is - at the end of the year - you'd be stuck with 10-40 copies of all kinds of software. And if new versions come out - those DVDs become useless (like you said, lol).

Makes great secretary handouts I guess. I hand to throw out all these office, xp, server, project, etc junk dvds out last year. Took too much room.

I used to get the CD's in the mail (this was like 7 years ago). I haven't done any programming or any other tech stuff for so long...

I did spring cleaning last month and threw out like 1,000 cds or so from my storage unit.

Almost cried. I remember when I used to get all giddy when I got that software, or used it to learn so many skills, or paid so much money for it or went to hell and back to find it cheap.

And now...i'm tossing it in the trash.

My Office 2007 Corporate CD will also one day be a coaster.

Sigh. Life.
