Who made America?

Alright, Again, I apologize for flaming on a warm fuzzy and patriotic post. It was uncalled for. BUT...that viewpoint, in my opinion is a form of brainwashing. By appeals to emotion in spite of a persons beliefs they try to promote a belief through "collectivism" and "prominence of being". If we are to give credit to the pilgrims for forming America then we must also give the same credit to other groups, who I promise you, had anything but religion on their mind(entrepreneurs). And we can't do that so I go back to my argument that Madison, Franklin, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, and others like them are more about the good ole U.S. of A., Red white and Blue and freedom than many of the other settlers here.

Imperialism justified slavery...the inquisition justified murdering 10's of thousands of good people simply because someone questioned a vague principle called faith. I have it out for religions because they are symbolic shackles, opiates and destroyers of true freedom. And if you don't want true freedom in your life you shouldn't be breathing under my flag.

Or am I, your basic freethinker, now the enemy?

You have the freedom to believe or not, to subscribe to a religion or not. If you instead decide to bash a religion, and those who follow it, you become the tyrant you despise.

hmmmmmmm. Well, I know it may come across that way in this form of communication. Lately I have seen a resurgence in blind faith and this scares me.

Faith is the commitment of one's consciousness to belief's for which no one has any proof for and is the equivalent of feeling without knowledge.

Now, feeling without knowledge....seems to be how many Americans vote...

yes...that's why I still like to think of myself as bordering agnostic. If someone can show me proof that what many have faith in is real, I'll be the first one begging for forgiveness from a higher power. But I have had faith (when I was in Saudi believe it or not) so I understand the human need for it. Oh well. Thanks for the intelligent convo-seems most people just look at me funny when I try to make a point...or beat me up. What a world(chuckle).:fro:

well I'm not going to butt in you two's thing over here but IMO america had not been made yet. it's still in the process of being made. That's the beaty of this great country, it's constantly in a state of change. but for some change is scary. they'd like to keep the old ways, which is impossible.

I'm all for change-just not going backwards which is what I think I'm seeing these days. Oh well. There is always Antartica...we could put a few boats together, call them the Mayflower and shit and see what happens. jk.

and no proof that God/faith/whatever you call it does NOT exist.
There is no proof that leprachauns don't exist, or Loch Ness monster. I will believe in them before that other science fiction.
