I am from Florida, but don't know if I want to drive to Jacksonville again anytime soon after this past weekends trip. Blow outs suck. To see life pass in front of your eyes. Almost kissing a Mack truck at 80. We can all meet in Tampa!

My friend Bruce Berinyi who pitched in the World Series years ago, he is a golf instructor up in West Palm. You know the rep that West Palm has for being "wealth" and "old money". That is the only place on earth you can visit APARTMENTS and find bentleys and rolls parked in the parking lot from the residents. He only gets 25% of the fee he charges. 50% goes to the club and then there are other "fees" that take up the other 25%... among them - get this - is client INSURANCE... in case they injure themselves learning the basics. Then there is green fees, maintenance fees, etc...

Instructors charge a lot though. The one I was learning from a while ago charged $70/hr. 25% of that is about $18/hr. Not bad.
I've learned an important lesson, though, and it's that you should never take a full-swing lesson unless it's a video lesson. Short game's OK... but you'll never figure out what you're doing wrong unless you can see it.
That, and video lessons are cheaper for some reason.

I think the enemy here is the club then. Instructors deserve good pay and students should not have to pay inflated rates to keep the instructors fed.
$50/hr would be a fair instruction rate. I don't see why the club would need to take so much. My instructor left to teach at a different course because this course wanted to fuck him harder in his new contract. Stupid too because he was the best instructor there.
You know what I hate though? Mandatory carts with cartpaths. omg. I got a coupon to play cheap as hell at this one course and I NEVER see people walking there. Apparently it's a cart-only course and they have cartpaths. ugh

Anyone who doesn't like Florida obviously has been to the wrong places. Jacksonville, Panama City, Pensacola, etc.. places like that can give the wrong impression.
Of course, you can't live in South Florida unless you are buff and beautiful. The people down here both men and women are amazing.

Ft Lauderdale/Boca Raton area for me.. Lived in FL for 15 years, 4 of them in Orlando, the rest in Ft Lauderdale.
Pensacola, Panama City, Jax, all are the armpit of the state IMO.. Im sure they are nice but the farther north you go you get more and more Redneck..
Tampa Area, West Palm down to Miami, and Orlando are the better places I have been in Florida. Even Orlando is a little too hick-ish on the outskirts (Bithlo)..
