I have the 20GB iPOD. I love it. It goes everywhere with me. I use it in the car, at work and at the gym. I've had it a few months and I think I paid $399.

got the 20GB one, dunno how much as it was a bday present.
It gave me a lot of guff at the start, for instance it froze the very first time I turned it on and had to let the battery fully wear out so i could rechange it. Then, when i installed the software, it somehow disabled my internet connection until i uninstalled it and had to manually do a bunch of shit. Also, somewhere between removing it from the styrofoam container and plugging it into my computer 3ft away, I somehow managed to scratch the surface so baddly that it is difficult to read it sometimes.

now I've got everything working fine and I love it, but i was ready to smash it into little pieces for about the first 2 days.

mine connects with firewire, I believe you can interface it with usb 2 as well. And if you know what you're doing, you don't need special software for any mp3 player.

LOL! what do you mean you are "scared to take it to the gym"?!?! The gym is pretty much the only place i use my i-pod, the thing can reallly take a beating. Use it in the gym bro, no worries!
