Who else hates the Holidays?

freak daddy

New member
I dread the thought of the Holidays. Getting together with the family is one of my least favorite things to do. Maybe I should feel bad about this. Ummm...NO!

Then why get together with them?

i hate your holidays, we're stuck up here working and ya'll getting some 8-day weekend.... NOT FAIR!!!!

Hey, you Canadians already had your Thanksgiving.....

......We get ours now.:D

Dude not biggie.. Do what I did. Get outcast from the family..

It's real easy.. Listen up and take notes...

When I got married, we would go over to My moms and do the whole xmas morning pkgs and dinner deal.
It was painfull in many ways especially for a newly wed couple like us.
My sisters all had like 4 kids each and we had none, so we ended up spending like 100's of dollars on their family and we got like one gift between us. It was bad but still bearable.

Then our daughter was born and we kept going over there for a year or so until she was old enough to walk and understand Santa and xmas morning excitement.

I informed my Mom and sisters that we were going to spend the Holidays at OUR house.
I said "I'm not rushing my kid to open her gifts and rush over here to spend the day being stressed out".
We are going to enjoy the holiday at our house just like it was when we were growing up.

I asked if maybe we could have a family party and draw names but they would have none of that so they stopped speaking to us and just recently have started to associate with us.

We invite my Mom over on Xmas eve or late in the day xmas and occasionally stop by her house as well but not the all day crap...

Why be miserable when you can figure out a way to enjoy the holidays where you want to be.

I'm going to curl up into a ball and whimper from now till DEC. 26th.

This is my first holiday since my mom passed away earlier this year... it's gonna suck. I lost my dad in 94. I'm an only child. No grandparents. I'm incredibly not looking forward to holidays pretty much from here on out to be honest...

sorry to hear that... try to keep your head up and do something you enjoy over your holidays... i'm sure your parents would want it no other way

Man I'm real sorry to hear that. I lost my Father back in 93 and I know somewhat what you will be going through. Keep your head up. That's all you can do.

I dread the holidays too

I hate having to go around (and buy gifts) for certain family members that I ONLY see once a year...i have to hug, kiss, etc. basically be FAKE!!! Id rather stay home w/immediate family or go hang out w/friends that we TRULY care about

I did some volunteer work last year. I bought a bunch of toys and books for some kids also. Man that was awesome. You'll love it Rich.

LOL...How sure are you? Wanna put a little wager on that?
Hmmmmmmm?

I hate the holidays too. I am lucky to have my family.. but I hate how people act... I am the Grinch.

I agree, Freak Daddy... I hate getting together with aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and neices that you only see once a year. The small talk, and bullshit that goes on is not tollerable.

However... I love to see how happy my kids get watching the Christmas cartoons... and on Christmas morning and stuff.... so in a way... I really love the holidays. In others... I just can't stand 'em.

Oh yeah... I also think greed is more present during the holidays than any other time of the year. I hate that.

Freak Daddy -u got any word on when House of 1000 corpses is being released?

I heard an interview with Rob Zombie not too long ago, and it's been pushed back until next year. His new album and tour prevented him from finishing the movie.

Still supposed to hit theaters, I think.

That's the best part of the Holidays. I think as an adult you lose sight of the simplicities of children and how much excitement opening gifts could create. I guess if I ever have a family I can regain that.

I'm sure you will, champ. Christmas meant getting together with family before I had my kids. And now... it's so much more. To see their faces light up when they see the presents... they get all excited... and yell "LOOK, DADDY! SANTA BROUGHT ME PRESENTS!"

Christmas is no longer about what I want, or what I get. It's about making my children smile, and giving them good memories. Damn I love those kids.

You are a good man with BIG heart Big Brother Val. Happy Thanksgiving my friend!

Happy Thanksgiving to you also.

And another thing... don't you hate the damn bellringers that stand outside the Wal-Mart and every other store they can put that red bucket up at?

I don't mind charities, mind you. I donate often throughout the holiday season... but damn... passing them buy without giving them a buck makes me feel like shit...

I DON'T NEED THAT GUILT!

Ooops... so much for the "good man, big heart" bit, huh? :D

I am the Grinch all grown up now. I had the FU attitude 24/7/365 but I have kids and have more fun being a better parent to them than my shitball parents were to me. Holidays are cool

I am single.. with no kids. I can still be the Grinch.. I wish I had kids so I could get to see them play with the TYCO set.. but no... I don't.

So.... Baaaaa Humbug.

LOL! The damn bellringers are already at full force here in Cincy. I really don't think to highly of them.

C'mon... DBaller... just get the Tyco set, and pretend it's for your kid... then you can go home and play with it yourself. :D

I can't imagine what it would be like now that I'm 25 to have Christmas without my own children to give Christmas too... what the hell would I do with myself?

Besides save a shitload of money, that is.

And FreakDaddy... they're full force here too. I thought they didn't come from out of the shadows until AFTER Thanksgiving... to use their mind controlling plague of guilt to force us to donate as we pass so we don't look like assholes.

In a couple years... they'll be coming out in June....

I love the fucking holidays. The only thing I hate is that the next day after christmas everyone reverts to being an asshole. Kinda like after 9/11, everyone was so nice, people would let you cut in front of them on the road and shit. Now they go back to flicking you off and honking their horns.

You're right, Nature Boy... I'm not sure why people don't keep the same mindset all year 'round. I like the message Bill Murray has at the end of SCROOGED. Damn good points he makes.

exactly. It should be friggin' christmas every day. or at least my birthday every day.

You're right. Christmas everyday. I wonder what life would be like.

I'd rather it be Everyone Give Val $5 Day every day. Or at least 6 days a week. I'd need a day to go spend it.

Think of the joy this would bring the human race.

I'm going to take this to Congress or whoever, and see if I can get a bill passed or something.

I'm real glad stores sell PreAssembled bikes these days.

I was not looking forward to that chore x-mas eve..

It is worth it seeing her come down the stairs and freak out..

r emember how you contributed to their lives, and how they contributed to yours

Toga, I hope you know you say the nicest things. Aw shucks, I'm blushing. :)

As for being shy, quiet, sweet and innocent.... it's totally obvious that you're sweet. As for the rest of those qualities..... lets just say that one out of four ain't so bad. ;)

I thought I was the only one who got depressed seeing all the relatives. Everybody else has their own wife/husband and kids.

Being a bachelor was cool for a long time but now I may be too old to totally lose control, fall deeply in love, and get married. Maybe that is a good thing. I'm afraid of being in my 40s & 50s and being lonely.:(

don't worry about it bro. enjoy being single. I love it. Sure I miss being in relationships, but man I love the freedom. Besides most people are getting married much later in life. Now go out there and chase after some women you old dog!!

Oh well, I guess I can keep pretending anyway!!

Take Care & I hope that you have a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!!

I love the holidays....it's the only time my entire family gets together...and when they're together they're a riot!

DBaller... that 8 year old tuna recipe can't be used without the written consent of Big Brother Val inc. Any other use is strictly prohibited.

See... what I'm going to do is wait until I have people around that I hate... like my sister's husband's family... then I'm gonna serve the shit on crackers and call it patte', or whatever.

If you really do that... and I do not get to see pics... I will most likley attempt to kill you!!!!!!

Put down the shotgun, my friend.

I'll try to post it in video form. I hope they try to humor me and tell me it's good. That'll be the best. Hopefully around New Years... but I don't know... her husband is scared shitless of me due to an altercation we had about a year ago. I'm hoping it goes well... even though it'd be an end to the Science Project... it would be a fitting end.

That would be priceless... what would be the priceless part.. the dude eating the tuna.. or 8 year old tuna??

If you actually do this.. I swear you will be my personal comedy hero!! That means you will be replacing Richard Pryor.

What would also kick ass... is if I could set up a stand in a Grocery store... like giving out samples... and record people's reactions.

If I can pull it off... I'll put Ritz crackers on a little tray... and put the Science Project "meat" on the crackers... and put it out by the food... and watch people eat it. If they don't eat it on their own... I'll go up and say:

"You gotta try this... it's French" or something like that.

Then... record them eating it. It would be hard not to laugh until I piss myself... but I think I could do it.

I just hope they say "Mmmmmm... that's pretty good"

Then when I say: "Want another one?"

They say: "Nah... it'll spoil my appetite... I need to eat some real food first."

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan... I hope it works out...

If you ever do that.. you gotta tell me.. I will drive to Utah or wherever you are just to see that first hand... No Tom Green or Buzzkill could EVER pull that one off.... just think the prank that took 8 years to plan!!!

You are a sick dude.. I like you more each day!!
