Vale Tudo - Brazilian MMA. Those fuckers are machines. In their culture, fighters are the sports heros, not ball players.

Jackson had Chong Li beat but started celebrating too early.

It doesn't matter. If you are bigger and/or stronger you will win.

False. Numerous times I have seen smaller/weaker guys beat the piss out of musclebound people. Skill and tenacity.

What if you are bigger, but he is stronger?

This is the fighting equivalent of Karson's statements about the utility of having a college degree.

Yeah but Chong Li got his ass handed to him by Van Dam

Jean Claude wouldve shit himself and froze when Jackson pounded a beer and charged him full bore with his Harley Bandana on.

Jackson!

Jackson!

Prove me wrong then. If you know how to fight (take puches, give punches) then strength is what matters. A tiny gook is not going to kick my ass because he can do splits and kicks. All too often these "martial artists" get into real fights and get their ass handed to them because their "sensei" gives them a false sense of invincibility.

This has been debated before.

A person who KNOWS how to fight will more than likely defeat a bigger/stronger guy who doesn't know how to fight.

I don't think knowing how to fight is good enough. You've got to be a real fight. You can practice all you want, but when you get pounded in the face for the first time in your life all that training shit gets forgotten.

no smart people use guns. Primitive people still fight with their hands.

Yep, why get all hot a sweaty like an animal when you can just put your enemy down without breaking a sweat? lol

We should revert back to dueling with pistols.

I recently had a "flame war" on another board with a bunch of kids who thought Bruce Lee was the greatest fighter ever. That he could beat Ali, any UFC champion, Big show and even a charging bear.

Now way I could bring them on earth. They were stuck with the idea that a 5'7, 140lbs with technique was invincilbe.

LOL. Are you serious about the charging bear??

YOUR OWN BODY CAN BE A WEAPON MAN.

Yeah no shit........but no where near as effective as a gun.

There is a reason that humans are the dominant species on this planet- we make use of tools to overcome those species (that can e bigger and stronger) that dont. A gun is a tool.

Yup. Another example of TV destroying the minds of today's youth. There's a reason people call it the idiot box.

yes, fucking french kids. They said since Bruce Lee knew how to place his kicks that he would destroys the poor bear's knees...

True. But that doesn't make any schmuck with a gun a great "fighter." It merely makes him more powerful. And I use that term loosely.

My interpretation on 'best fighter' was the person most likely to walk away. The guy with the gun is most likely to walk away.

"You Jackson? You look like Jackson..."

Your question is flawed, or at least to vague. What kind of fighting are you talking about? In a ring, with rules, etc? Out on the street? Weapons? etc.

Generally it boils down to the fighter. Certain styles are more condusive to teaching you to be a good fighter. Boxing, Muai Thai, are generally considered to be better striking arts than traditional Karate or Tai Kwon Do, but it is how the fighter applies the skill they have.

Look at the UFC/Pride champs, now they come from a variety of disciplines. Tito has a background in wrestling. Nogeria in pride is a Jiu Jitsu player. Sapp is just a big monster. No one style is best.

to add to this, just watch ufc or pride fighting, and sometimes the bigger, better athlete doesn't always win. Royce Gracy is a prime example. and Zen mentioned Nogera, he fought Bob Sapp, a guy who outweighed him and was much stronger than him, and in pretty good shape, and nogera beat him. Vitor Belfort in his good times beat guys bigger than him.

one more thing, I don't care how big you are, your balls and your face have no muscle to them. with that said, if you can punch or kick faster than the other guy then you can potentially take him out of action, especially if you punch FIRST. Obviously if the person punching is very weak then no real damage would be done.

over in thailand a lot of American kickboxers learn the hard way that these "tiny gooks" will put them down because they are so fast and can kick brutally hard. I know an American kickboxer who relied on strength too much went over to fight in the thailand matches and wound up in the hospital with numerous chest fractures because he could not get out of the corner fast enough to stop the other guys attack. but I know what you mean and for the most part I agree.

But who would win between Whorf vs. Data?

..or an army of rabbits led by a lion will defeat an army of lions led by a rabbit

What about the armed forces? I'm sure there are navy seals, delta force, green berets, etc...that would kick any of those guys asses.

Fights have a lot to do with luck as well...you might know how to fight, and be big and strong...but the guy could land one lucky punch and you'd be fucked...every fight is different. I think it comes down to who's more pissed off, and who gets lucky...

THE MAIN REASON WHY MOST PEOPLE USES GUNS IN THE FIRST PLACE IS BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID TO GO TOE TO TOE WITH THEIR APPONANT. SCARDY CATS!

Bruce Lee could beat Ali no question. Ali was fast that was his thing, bruce lee is faster. If you've ever read a bio on Bruce Lee he was actually a pretty strong guy especially for his size. I believe he was able to bench slightly over 315. Which I know lots and lots of people can do but when you add strength with his speed its a pretty damn good combo. Lets keep physics in mind here. A smaller linebacker can lay just as strong a hit or stronger than a 300lb lineman. Speed=good. And though I highly highly doubt he could beat a beer it may be possible under very odd circumstances. There was a fighter, just died of cancer recently, that fought bulls. He almost died in his first fight with one actually but he also killed 2 or 3 bulls with one punch.

Ahh, yes, the legendary Mas Oyama. Didn't hear about him almost dying. Scissored off a horn with a right and then cold cocked the bull with a left. Wasn't a very large bull, but enough to mess a brogan up.

Why do people think wrestlers are the best fighters. There are several styles of fighting way more effective on the ground than some form meant to pin an opponent.
