all these eaten with extra protein and good fats. for instance a tuna or turkey sandwich on white bread (little mayo), also with a protein shake and flax. or just regular pasta with a little ragu and some parmesan and some protein powder. or even white rice, but again with a protein/flax shake taken along with it. would these carbs be OK for a "clean" lean mass diet? ALA also taken at these times. just seems impossible to find a good carb that tastes good. pasta tastes good, white rice and bread tastes good....but seems they "are not good carbs". but in the combo's above, would they be decent carbs to use? sure would be convenient. and any ideas on good, easy carbs that actually taste good that work for you are appreciated.

There are BETTER carbs like: pasta, oatmeal, yams, sweet potatoes, brown rice...etc...(anything low-gi or fiberous). But, if you're bulking up, the foods you listed are actually quiet "clean" when compared to the usual "see-food" diet. If it suits you, then do it, I think you'll get some good results.

Why don't you take whole wheat bread ?

it has a lower GI, more fiber, more vitamins and minerals and taste better than white bread

yeah, i decided to stick to wheat bread sand, and pasta, with maybe some cereals like wheaties, and i'll even try oatmeal this time around. trying to keep away from the "cut" or "bulk" type eating and just eat a middle of the road cleaner diet this time with moderate calories. but the carbs worry me. where the hell is that GI list fonz or someone posted as a sticky somewhere????? i can't find it now.

thanks bro. karma. lower GI is best....but what is considered too high of a GI for a clean diet? the cutoff point so to speak?

I would say the cutoff point is around 70 for me....that's as high of GI I would go.

that sounds reasonable. or else make sure to add in some flax and slow release casein with the higher GI carb if you must.

white rice is great post workout. cut it out the rest of your diet - as it has no nutritional value.
