While my guitar gently weeps....

Man I haev heard this song twice today and all I can say is DAMN! The sound of the guitar is just amazing.

My mom was playing the piano for me yesterday, she has a performance coming up and wanted to play for me. She's pretty bad at the piano. So she screws up a few times, and I thought it would be helpful to tell her to try to feel the groove of the music and try to get into it, but she got all mad at me. I've played in a few bands and for me it's all about getting in a groove. Like you have to be able to nod your head to the music...that's the most basic type of music. Of course you get more advanced types of music that use esoteric time signatures or fuck with the beat, but the easiest type of music to pick up is yoru classic 4/4.

So she got all mad, and well whatever.

The groove is in the heart.

One of the most well-known bits of Beatle trivia is that the lead guitar part in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was played by Eric Clapton.

That's great trivia!

I'm gonna listen to it again more carefully!

Unless The Slipknots perform it then it must suck.

Yeah, music can only be so technical, and after that, you have to have technique and feeling behind it, or else it will sound mechanical and sometimes just plain bad, even if there are no mistakes. I notice that I play better when I am feeling it, like you say, vs when I am agitated or uptight and can't play for shit. It's easy to put too much thought into it(technical) and that can make it harder than if one just disconnects from everything else and interweaves their soul with that of the music.

They traded off -- Clapton played on Harrison's song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and Harrison played on Cream's song "Badge."

Yep. Hence jamming with others while under the influence certainly helps.
