Which NSAID ?

anthrax

MVP
EF VIP
Tendinitis, tear, back pain .... who didn't suffer such injuries ?

Fortunately NSAIDs are here to relieve pain and help treat inflammation

But which one is best ?

Oral or topical ?

COX-1 selective like ketoprofen (Orudis )
non-selective like aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil)
or selective COX-2 inhibitors (Celecoxib/Celebrex) ?

BUMP

I'm injured and I'd like to know which NSAID to take

Otherwise the lifting withdrawal symptoms will lead me to take Prozac ;)

Injuries are the byproduct of what we do with ourselves, unfortunately. As for which NSAID is best for you, it can vary with people. Some respond better to one or another, so you may wish to start with what works best for you. Tylenol is a good start, as is Advil, or Aleve. Getting into COX-inhibs is something you should get a medical consult for first, as the rule of pain meds is to begin with lower strength/dose and increase until finding the effective point. As for topical vs systemic, I would lean for systemic, since topical can only penetrate so far, yet they are an excellent complement to systemic meds. In the end, they both will relieve pain, which is what you want.
Forgive me if I don't get too specific, since the best way to gauge this is after an exam and history.
If you are getting injured alot, you may wish to see your doc, to rule out a more serious condition than you may suspect, which is leading to repeated down time.

Hope I helped.

I like naproxen, myself; it seems to push the relief buttons that ibuprofen just doesn't, for me; I don't get as much benefit from Tylenol, either (and it has a bit of liver toxicity in high doses/long term use that I don't want).

Aspirin was my best friend until I found out it interferes with uric acid elimination. I have a tendency toward gout, so that was really bad news.

Good stuff !

Thx guys :)
