XBOX ALL THE WAY!!! IT PLAYS DVD'S ALSO BUT WITH MY COMPUTER AND DVD PLAYER, I HAVE THREE SO I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT DVD PLAYERS. I WOULDNT PAY THE EXTRA 40 BUCKS TO GET THE DAMN DVD CONTROLLER. IF THE MUTHA FUCKER PLAYS DVD'S, WHY THE HELL SHOULD YOU HAVE TO BUY THE CONTROLLER SEPERATE??? THAT GOES FOR PS2 ALSO!!! STUPID FUCKS!!! AS IF THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY!!!

You have it all wrong. The PS2 comes ready to play DVD's right out of the box. You use the playstation controller as the remote to play the DVD's and use all the functions. It's fine for what it is.

However, Microsoft dicked people over by making the remote mandatory to play DVD's. When you buy the remote, you also get a receiver that goes in one of the controller ports. You simply can't play DVD's without it. THAT, my friend, IS BULLSHIT.

I'm personally going for a Gamecube. Luigi's mansion is super fun and I'm a big fan of N64. WaveRace is gonna be a blast with multiplayer plus i can't miss the the Resident Evil series which will continue only on Gamecube.

In a nutshell, if you don't have PS2, get that first, then go for a Gamecube, then an XBOX. I say this cuz no nintendo system has never bombed and PS2 already has a bunch of HOT games. Especially Final Fantasy 10!!! XBOX is a gamble and expensive.

XBOX IS THE SAME PRICE AS PS2. MOST OF THE GAMES, EXCEPT EXCLUSIVE TITLES, WILL BE OUT FOR XBOX IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I'VE READ GTA3 IS ALREADY IN THE WORKS FOR XBOX.

LIKE I SAID, I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE DVD PART. I HAVE 3 DVD PLAYERS ANYWAY.

I understand...but for kingkong...

anyways, ps2 dropped in price and there's just not enough games. I'm still worried about xbox not being able to get established companies. They already lost capcom and Namco.

PS2 IS STILL 299$ HERE. WHAT IS IT THERE? XBOX IS ALSO
299$.

You can't save a game on the PS2 without a memory card, which is sold seperately. They all have their little rackets.

I would say xbox also. Sure playstation 2 has more games. But it's also been out over a year now also. The dvd playback is also trivial in my opinion also for a few reasons. #1:Having a remote control is nice anyway you look at it. Who wants to walk to the controller every time they want to play with the features. Nearly every electronic device is remote controlled these days. #2:You've already spent $300 on the system(plus however many games and extra controllers), I'm fairly sure you can afford an extra $30. #3: If you don't have a dvd player by now sure it's great to have it included into the gaming system you're buying. But that's not the main reason you bought the system in the first place is it? Also the majority of people already have a dvd player.

I have both systems and enjoy them both. I'm not biased either way. But it's hard to believe that microsoft isn't going to find anyone to back their system with games. And I can think of a Nintendo system that has flopped. I didn't think the N64 did all that great...

Don't you have use a game card with the Xbox too?

At any rate, the Sony Play Station is the 800lbs. Gorilla. The burden of proof is on the Cube and the Xbox. So as it stands right now, PS is king.

As far as I know, no. They have a harddrive on them. I'm a PS2 owner and I don't have any of the other new generation consoles.

My friend told me tonight that the PS2 still out sold the Xbox and Gamecube this holiday season.

I don't know if they're coming out with one for general purpose, but they're going to come out with a linux kit, so there has to be some sort of HDD for that.

Wow, just researched it a little.

Seagate landed the contract to make the hard drives for the PS2.

FF 10 is compatible with the hard drive as well as some other games. You can't save the game data, but it speeds up the load times. I'm sure they'll use it for game updates and add-ons later down the road.

No U.S. release for it yet.

"With a ready supply of hard drives, Sony will be able to market the system as a vault for MP3 files, digital photos and data-intensive media content--functions currently performed by PCs. "

Let's see how N64 flopped:

Super Mario 64 (Greatest 3D adventure ever)
WaveRace 64 (great original racer)
Zelda 64 1 & 2 (Fantastic adventure/rpg's)
Perfect Dark (Great 1st person)
Banjo and Kazooie (another classic 3D)
Star Fox 64(try and find a better shooter w/ player deathmatch)
Conker's (lame attempt at adult humor...but cool)

...and not even mentioning 3rd party games

I think it'll be between Sony and Nintendo. Sony don't fuck around.

Sony sold 1.4 million units of the PlayStation 2 in the United States in the fourth quarter through Dec. 8, according to sales figures tallied by NPD and compiled in a report released by Credit Suisse First Boston. Microsoft trailed slightly, selling 934,000 copies of its Xbox through Dec. 8. Nintendo came in a more distant third with 615,000 units of its GameCube console. The Xbox went on sale Nov. 15; the GameCube debuted Nov. 18.

PS2 is the king.

I'd worry not about what system is best, but what system will give yout he most bang for your buck. I just got a ps2 because i get to play all the old ps1 games that I never got to play because i fried my old psx trying to install a mod chip in it, and I can also back up ps2 games.

game cube-its cheaper, has stellar games, and you don't have to worry about ps3 upgrade already in progression coming out with- in 2 years.

stellar what???2 years what???

Man there's only about 4 games out for gamecube that can be considered "stellar".

As for that PS3 within 2 years thing, no.

You guys are also forgetting about the Dreamcast. Yes its a dead system, but jeez, if you have a cable modem and a cd burner, it's the most amazing investment you can think of. It's got online capabilities right now, not 6 months down the road. It's got stellar games NOW. It's CHEAP.

Sorry. But I'm not much of a fan of kids games...

AS FAR AS THE NUMBERS, IF THEY ARE ACCURATE, OF HOW MANY UNITS OF EACH WERE SOLD, THE XBOX WAS LIMITED RELEASE. JUST LIKE THE PS2 WAS LAST YEAR. A MILLION UNITS SOLD IN A MONTH AINT TOO SHABBY. WHAT DID PS2 SELL LAST YEAR DURING ITS LIMITED RELEASE PERIOD? PROBABLY ABOUT THE SAME.

YOU DONT NEED A MEMORY CARD FOR XBOX.

SONY IS AN 800LB GORILLA, YOURE RIGHT WHOMEVER SAID IT. MICROSOFT MUST BE A 2000LB GORILLA ON JUICE.

MY VOTE: I LIKE THE XBOX BUT ONE CANT GO WRONG WITH EITHER ONE.

ok, I don't have any of the 3 systems yet, but i will still give my 2 cents on the matter.

1. gamecube is gonna have a handful of games that will be great, but you will be able to count all of them on one hand. n64 was evident of this. the only reason i bought that game system was because of zelda. what other *great* games were there besides zelda and mario? in my opinion, none. gamecube will flop, and nintendo will go down the same path sega did.

2. ps2 is a great system. it is hard to tell which will come out on top...be it xbox or ps2. if you look at ps1, you will see how that system anihilated every other game system. it's graphics were much better than n64, and it had better game licenses than both nintendo and sega combined. look at all of the classics for ps1, there are too many to list. I also like ps2, because sony has always had a greater market for more adult games then did nintendo and dreamcast...nintendo's demographics must be to age 13....their games are non-violent, cuddly, soft video games designed to keep kids good. I like as much violence and sex they can put into anything. go ps2.

3. xbox has alot of potential here, just look at the system specs. my lord, it blows the fuck out of both ps2 and gamecube. the only thing that i think is shitty is that microsoft doesnt have many good game titles out right now, nor the gaming licenses that sony has....but give this time, microsoft has enough power and money to pretty much get whatever they hell they want. i am not a big fan of microsoft, but i must admit, this system has alot of potential, and if it gets some good gaming licenses, it is going to leave ps2 and gamecube in the dust.

i have ps2 now.. i want xbox just because of nfl fever....

other than that i'd stick with my ps2.... cuz i dont know if cube or xbox is going to excel and explode or bust like dreamcast did... i was one of them 9-9-99 in line people for that thing and though i liked it, look at it now.
