why is whey protein only last for 30-60mins vs casenate which lasts like 8 hours? can someone explain where the whey goes after its broken down to its simplest form?

i am asking this because some jerkoff on the radio claimed whey protein can put you body in an anabolic state for 8 hours..... he said take it 1st thing in the morning and before bed.

i like whey protein but its not the best protein to depend on from what i have read

I can't give you the entire explaination, but I know it's supposed to be important early in the morning and after a workout because it digests so quickly, it allows your body to get the fast-acting protein it needs, well, fast.

Whey protein is absorbed from the small intestine within about 30 mins of drinking it, while casein takes a couple of hours. So whey is great after a workout when your muscles will take up almost anything you can throw at them, while casein will deliver protein in a more time released fasion.

When casein enters the stomach, it comes in contact with HCL and curdles up into a bolus. This is beneficial for times of long breaks between meals (ie overnight). I usually have cottage cheese at night before I go to bed at night.

Whey is absorbed quickly, thus it is beneficial for times such as postworkout, mornings, etc...actually, if you don't mind sucking down whey for every meal, it can be added to every meal tht you eat (preferably mixed with other proteins at these meals obviously). The important thing is just to make sure that you consume enough protein throughout the day.

Whey will not be present in the GI tract for 8 hours unless there is other macronutrients such as fats, wholeproteins, etc...present to slow absorption. Are you sure that you are not misinterpreting casein for the 8 hour duration. I think whey is more like 2 hours.
