Whey And Insulin

Senior Woonaki

New member
just wondering how WHEY triggers an insulin response.. I have been reading articles about WHEY protein get used for energy not recovery because it is so easily digestable.... what gives???

Its fast absorbing and if eaten alone will cause an insulin response that can cause problems if in keto.

Mixed with fat or carbs it's fine.

I asked SwoleCat about this and this is what he said.

"it shouldn't cause any type of insulin rise really, not one that is harmful anyhow. If slin did get elevated, the only thing circulating in the blood are pure amino acids. It takes more energy to turn them into carbs, so I wouldn't worry too much. As well, the oil should help if this does occur on some kind of minor level."

Very true, only time it would be a concern would be if doing ckd or attempting to establish ketosis.
