She was 8 years old and I thought in perfect health. Smart ass dog when she wanted to be and still happy to the last week I had her. On one sunday, I was out back working on my car and playing with her in the yard.
That night she was fine, but the next morning she wouldnt put any pressure on her left front leg. I though "O shit" she probably fractured it when we were playing. But I got to thinking that it would have hurt her Sunday night if she did. So I figured it was just sprained.
So I left it be hoping she would just walk it off. Well, 2 days past and she still wouldnt let me even touch it. So I got pissed and loaded her up and took her to the vet. They did and x-ray and found that cancer had eaten through her bone.
I could have removed her leg, but I didnt want that and I couldnt see my dog walking around with 3 legs. I could have spent a few thousand dollars on a new leg, but what if the cancer has already spread to her lungs or other bones.
So on the following Saturday, I took her for her last ride and went to the vet. And they put her to sleep. She died with a tear in her eye fighting to the last breath.
So take care of your pets and dont take anything for granted.
I am sitting here at work with tears welling up.
Sorry for being so long, but it feels good to talk about her.
Goodbye Sasha, I will never forget u.
