I would like to know the same thing...is there something I can do at home and send in that will tell me everything I need to know before my next cycle?

Three years ago, I set up an account with Quest Diagnostics, for the sole purpose of helping BB'ers get proper testing with complete privacy and confidentiality. Even the athlete's insurance has offered partial or complete coverage in most cases. I have developed a list of 15 essential tests for the athlete. I have suggested baseline testing, intra-cycle testing (to see how the body reacts to the cycle), and post-recovery testing (to see that the athlete has returned) to baseline or better.

This is the most underutilized service I have ever seen. Blood testing here is no different than blood testing with any other doc or clinic. The difference is that 99% of the docs out there do not know how to follow the steroid athlete nor do they know what to test for. Second, most athletes do not want to disclose to their PCP their use. There is a minimal charge for the service as well as costs for the testing--no different than getting blood testing from anywhere. I can't tell you how important blood testing is. Without it, you are flying blind. Self-experimentation is not the answer for the future of chemical enhancement. It will only gain respectability when the athlete begins to accept responsibility and accountability for his actions. I am still reading about too many failing recovery cycles, poor bulking-cycles results, too many estrogenic and prolactogenic sides, and poor choices and plans.

It is nationwide. Quest Diagnostics has a presence in almost every area of the USA. If they aren't convenient, then the Requisition Form can be presented at LabOne and other blood drawing labs. The names of the tests are the same, just the lab codes change.

OK, I'm on to something here. You gotta get basic w/ me bro, I know of a couple Quest Diagnostics locations in my area, just looked em up online. Do you just roll in and tell em you need bloodwork or what? I guess what I'm asking is how do you specify the tests run and is it remotely normal for a person to wander in without any doctor's recommendation. Andy what about insurance coverage?

Bump

i was worried last night that this thread wouldnt go anywhere haha

i k'd you all

doc i have a quest and a labone within 2 miles of my house

im really interested to talk to you more about how to get setup getting my bloodwork done like that and what it would cost (ballpark)

Most of the time it is very simple to say to your doctor, " I have been using aas and I have been needing to check my blood to make sure everything is okay..." Your doctor is not going to rat on you, they are there for that stuff. Anyway, just be sure what tests you want them to run, dont just assume they know exactly what tests you want done.

Also google search turns up several options for mail order testing etc...

Guys, re-read my post. I have been offering the service to BB'ers for over three years. I charge a fee for ordering and sending you the Requisition form and receiving and interpreting the results. All you have to do is take the form to the nearest Quest Diagnostics lab and let the tech draw your blood. In many cases, your insurance covers some or all of the costs of the tests. In any case, you are responsible for paying Quest for any balance. Like anything else, you can call your insurance company to see what is required for coverage. If insurance requires the doc to be a participating doc, then you will not be able to use your insurance. The costs of the tests vary nationwide. Since no one has ever complained about the cost of the testing, I have to assume that either it was reasonably priced or the insurance covered most of it. You can certainly call your local Quest Lab and ask about the cost of the 15 tests. I ahve posted the 15 tests and test codes ad nauseum here and they are listed at anabolicextreme.com--in one of my articles.

I have written a series of articles about genetics and blood testing at www.anabolicextreme.com. For complete details, I suggest you check them out. If you have any further questions, email me.

DrJMW is this Quest Diagnostics available to Canadians?

Are you able to send a requisition form to Canada and help us Canucks out?
