When you have to move...

Ever wonder what you will have to leave behind? Family, friends, etc... Ever wonder how hard that is to do? What about relationships? Maybe that might be the most difficult to do.

If my girlfriend moves to NYC... I'll move with her... leaving all of my 60+ friends behind... it'd be a tough move... but hey, you've got to think of your own life... ya know?

I'll give you a piece of advice an older friend told me before I moved away. He had moved away
for awhile and it seemed he liked it, but he moved back after a time. I asked him why and he said," You are, where you're from". I didn't understand at the time but I moved 1000 miles away from my home and learned the meaning after about a year and a half. I finished what I had to do and moved back home and my wife and I reasumed our lives, much happier. She had moved with me and was equally glad to be back home. Good luck.

I would never leave my family. They are as mucha part of me as anything else in the world. I would kill for them. I worry about the people who dont feel this way. Makes me wonder how much love was in their homes growing up.

i am where i am from but i do not fit in, nor are there career opportunities where i live...

i'd be far too unhappy in that city. big cities excite me and suit me far better.

With the company that I work for, I will have to move and I may move a few times over the next several years. No idea where or how often...but the pay is great and I really need it. I guess that I am just worried about the tole it will take on my relationships.

The biggest thing for us was the people we met. When you're home you know who's who, when you're many miles from home you never know. Sometimes you find out too late who you've been hanging with. Just got sick of the bullshitters. You, Bfold, coming from a small town are going to feel it.

it just depends on the person. some people like myself have no problem with moving (its exciting, you see new things, meet new people etc.) others like to stay rooted in one place.

As much as I say I want to leave NY, when it comes down to it I honestly think I'll never leave....I'm too attached to my family and friends...I wouldn't want to be far from them...

Pink, you may understand this better coming from the NY\NJ area, it seemed everyone else was so damn slow. If you spoke to them, they couldn't comprehend it if you said too quickly.

Jersey people talk very fast. Myself included. Moving anywhere else, I'd become extremely impatient. I love it here.

I never wonder about the leave behind stuff. I have friends that I know I can pick right up where we leave off with. That's the way it is with me.

I am always thinkiing about what new stuff there will be do explore whenever we move! My wife hides like a turtle for three months then finds the local drugstore, theatre, video rental and supermarkets.

I love driving people from New Jersey Insane with a constant......Uhhhhh...... near the end of a sentance. Try it! You can see veings popping out of peoples forheads!

I thought you were a student at U.D. I work out at the Y. I go to three different ones, depending on the day of the week.

The Western Y which is near Kirkwood on kirkwood, the Central and Southern Chester County.

When did school start back? Because I need to adjust for the 40 minutes it will take just to get through or around Newark! LOL!!

school started tues...and yes traffic in Newark is the worst

I almost joined the Y on Kirkwood, right across the road from the huge tanning salon, good gym and pretty cheap but they make you pay for it through your bank acount, i was willing to pay for the whole year up front but no dice, stupid.

Hopefully Kirkwood will give me a job, they have a sweet setup...

We have a family membership at the Y. If it weren't for my wife and babies I would be over at High Energy or Kirkwood. I like both layouts. Pretty cool to have a fellow Iron head from the board near by.

Does U.D. have a decent gym setup for student and athlets? I've always been curious but I never have the time to check it out.

they have two gyms...the student gym and the athlete gym...

I work out at the Bob Carpenter Center...they actually just redid the whole complex...so as far as weights and eqipment goes it gets the job done.

Problem is they do not allow tanktops or cutoffs, and seem to have a particular hate for me...I find no problem in wearing a tank, for one i have worked very hard for my body and two it is essential for shoulders, bis and tris. But they have banned them

So this winter i go out and bye and cut of T, get to the door and one of the student employes informs me that there is a 20 min wait to use the gym. Im like what is this a "club"

She then tell me upon entering that I will need to cover my body up for this is not a meat market...I ignore her stupid ass and begin my workout...20 mins later she comes up to me with an XXXL size shirt and says put this on or leave. I proceed to put it on and as she walks away i tear it off like hulk hogan, letting one strand cling to my body...Im am then told later by the FITNESS MANAGER that i have a warning...I tell him consider yourself warned bub, I know the President of the College Mr. Rosel yea my family helped bring him here....Stupid rules...

You're such a rebel, you hunk brute, you.

That is pretty fucked up that they wont "let" anyone wear a T or cut off. What a load of bullshit.

Plus I got all flushed over that hulk action.

As a career military guy, I have moved every 2-3 years for the last 17 years of my life. I have a very close relationship with my parents and siblings however, and we have a family reunion annually.

As far as my own family (wife and kids) they go wherever I go, (except hardship tours or combat) and that is where home is. People in the military tend to settle in and become a part of their community and make friends quickly. It has been a great experience living in several different parts of the US and other countries, but when I retire I look forward to growing roots somewhere.

I was born and raised, now reside in the same like 20 mile radius... I did spend many summers, though, growing up abroad, in my parent's country at my Mama's house.

I may move someday to a place much like the place where I summered as a child and adolescent....

Life is so wonderful; full of so many twists and turns.

I don't even care about where I will end up these days. I am focusing on HOW I will get there. :)
