When will computer DVD burners be a good buy???

We have a big mess with the division between DVD+ and DVD-.

Also heard that they will upgrade to about 5.2GB in the near future but who knows.

They have recently leapt from 4X to 8X and this is bound to continue. May as well wait until they grow even faster.

There are compatibility problems between computer DVD burners and home entertainment DVD players. This is bound to improve with time.

Any bros have some scintillating information?

nows a good as time as any. most dvd -rw/-r writers are under $100. i have noticed a few +rw/+r/-rw/-r have been under $100 on sale. undoubtly that is the way to go. also dvd-r's are sometimes on sale for $61 per hundred. not bad since they were about a bucks a piece 3 months ago

They are 1.50-2.00 each in Denver without the clamshell.

There is software out there that will burn a DVD worth of stuff onto a CD-R. Surfsecret.com has freedownloadable trials (30 day usually).


I won't be buying a DVD-R until they are at least 20x and less than $150.

since you are acting like a computer guru, i'll assume you know a dvd-rom 1x has no correlation to a cd-rom 1x.

for every 1x a dvd-rom has that equates to an 8x for a cd-rom. approximately of course. but i'm sure you knew that

you may be waiting a while for this to happen since this would be equivelant to an 160x cd-rom. don't think they have those out yet because the disc's literally come apart at that fast of a speed

I suspect what is meant is that the DVD handles 8 times the data of a cd recorder at the same "speed."

Not certain though.

For my business we are selling these in big qty as below FOB Hong Kong.

Dvd-R, 4.7GB, 2x 0.72 cents
Dvd-R, 4.7GB, 2.4x 0.77 cents
Dvd-R, 4.7GB, 4x 0.88 cents
Dvd-RW 4.7GB 1.10 cents

For CD-R's we well at 0.17 cents

These items are very hot and of course we export in very big volume.
