Two years ago almost to the day I was a freshman at the Community College of Southern Nevada. I was fresh out of high school and had just finished my last season of high school legion baseball where I came in second for mvp of the league. Anyways I didn't get a scholarship for baseball anywhere and walked on the CCSN team. About 2 weeks in my right foot started to bother me out of nowhere, but I didn't say a word to anyone as I couldn't risk sitting out because I wasn't guaranteed a spot. For about 2 weeks I didn't say anything but it was getting obvious that my foot had something wrong with it. Well one day at the end of practice we had to run and the coach told us that this was a very important run because he wanted to see us challenge eachother and see who would compete, etc. It was a 3 mile run through a desert and side streets around the school that consisted of uphill streets, etc. I knew this was important for me to get through this and I busted my ass and finished second right behind one of the fastest guys on the team. My foot went numb and the pain was so bad about a quarter of the way through the run but I just blocked it out and tried my hardest to run as fast as I could. When I was finished I collapsed and I couldn't even walk the pain was so bad. The coach couldn't believe I had ran how I did and he knew something was up with my foot. I saw the trainer and we had no idea what could be wrong with it. I wanted an mri but the trainer said no and I just had x-rays done on it. I wasn't allowed to go to a doctor on my own and had to go through the team doctor so I waited and waited and the x-rays showed up negative. I knew that nothing was broken, but I did know that something was seriously wrong with my foot. I had it taped up everyday for practice and was loading up on pain pills to get through the day. I had to stay out of the running and all I did was hit. I ended up making the team because of my hard work and talent, but I had no idea what to expect because I knew my foot was finished. Months later I finally got an mri and it showed that I had a strained tendon on the inner foot, outer foot, a sprained ankle, and some other small things I cant remember. After hearing this I thought that this couldn't be right because I have had my foot sprained before and this was nothing like that. They put me in a cast for 10 weeks and my foot was as fucked as before when I got it out. They had me get an another mri and this time it showed that I had a stress fracture on my navicular bone along with a couple of other small things with the strained tendons, etc. I was so confused because I didn't do anything to my foot to have done this much damage except for running. Anyways I ended up medical redshirting the season and was going to go at it next year. They said it would heal on its own since I had a bit of time to get it better, but guess what it just got worse. Finally I was able to get surgery on it last May and they had to put 2 screws in my navicular bone(the bone where the foot and the calf connect on the top of you foot), a bone graph from my knee into my foot because I had several cists which take up bone place, and I had pretty bad arthritus that the doc said he cleaned out of there as well. I was in a cast and crutches for 12 weeks and it sucked. I continued working out though and did so 2 days after my surgery. The fall ball season would start in August and so it was going to be a a very short time for rehab if I wanted to play the upcoming season. I did about 3 weeks of rehab instead of the recomended 24 weeks plus and I had to get back out there and practice because I was rusty from not playing in quite a while. My foot was still fucked and I knew it but I was so fucking angry at myself and everyone that I wasn't going to let it beat me. Anyways I hurt it again and I had to miss that season also. I talked to the coach and he couldn't believe all of this was happening to me and told me that he was going to get a hardship filed for me so that I would still be a freshman for the upcoming season. He told me to take a year off and get my foot better because he hates seeing me in such pain. I am done with baseball now and that foot injury has changed my whole life. When I hurt my foot originally I turned to working out and wrestling(WWE) and those are what got me through the tough times. My foot is finally better now for the most part except for some stiffness, but I don't run on it to often just to be safe. It really started feeling great when I started my first cycle of test, eq, and fina. I was about 200 lbs during my baseball days and now I am over 255 and very lean at 20 years old. I am so glad this happened to me now as I am going to finish college and than get into wrestling which was always my dream. This whole thing happened for a reason to me because it just appeared out of nowhere. Anyways sorry for the long ass story but I feels good to be able to tell others of my experience. later
