the intellictual climate regarding politics, and society is frozen and rigid.....in the universities dialogue and opinion is confined to a select few that must instill in their pupils a set of either conservative or liberal propoganda that serves only to balkanize a new breed of potential intellectualls.
our culture is dead it revolves only around materialism, manupulation, and insincerity. nothing of civic duty, resoponsibility, or integrity exists in popular culture
our common person in this country is about as educated as a door nob..
thanks to the ever so centralized media that essentially controlls the very identity , agenda , and consciuosness of this population...........so to try to reach this mass of people in the hopes of getting something grass roots going is almost impossible. because they do not possess the information or tools to liberate them from there prisons because they have not been furnished with them intellectually, and second even if they were in some degree it would almost be impossible to reach this group on a national level.....
am I cynical NO....searching for answers yes...........![]()

some good posts here, but looking at ancient history - there is no problem or societal condition in America today that was not experienced by the Roman Empire. Politicans have always lied and cheated, the population always tends towards apathy and immorality, people have always defrauded and killed their neighbors, governments have always overtaxed and intruded until reversed by revolution.
every empire has gone through the same cycle of founding to expansion to decay to destruction - as long as human nature stays the same, there's no reason to expect any different.

they want to spend zillions of dollars fighting a useless global drug war
If you have never traveled outside the US you don't understand how fucked up the rest of the world is! Including western europe!
I guess that is why the guys who fought in WWII at a young age came home from the war and were so productive-

When you get a bunch of uneducated, self interested people to vote for things they don't understand you have problems.
The thing that made this country great (democracy) will be the thing that drags it down.
People voting to not put in mass transit systems because it raises taxes a little bit.
People voting down funding for education because they are stupid
People voting things like teaching creationism in school
People using a system of blind faith and pointless superstition to vote against life saving medical advances. (religious morality with genetics)
Mob rule will bring America down and other countries that do not have these problems will surpass us in medical and technological areas. Not only will this make america a less rich of a country, It will make it a laughing stock of the rest of the world, a backwards 3rd world country.
My feelings on my country anyhow.
Any country where the leader says he feels that Athiests are not a part of said country is a country I don't like living in. (said something similar about pagans also if I remember correctly.)

Aryan_Soldat said:Things that abolished America:
-The rise of the transnational corporation. Such corporations have supplanted states as the primary actors in the world. They are authoritarian, and their only allegiance is to profit. These men control global policy.
-Loss of accountability in government. The abolition of US sovreignty has been almost unanimously opposed by the American electorate. US elites refuse to discuss the issue.
-The elimination of the 2-pary system. The USA is now a 1 party system. Similar to the USSR under Kruschev. There is NO substantive difference between Republicans and Democrats.
-Mass Immigration: abuses immigrants by refusing them legal status while allowing them to work. Drives down American wages. Renders political consensus impossible, as US Elites have seen fit to cram several nations into one jurisdiction.
-Abolition of the US Constitution:
The Legislature does violence to the COnstitution on a daily basis. American are no longer free. The US Government in 2002 is an unconstitutional, essentially "occupation" regime.

Hengst said:All good posts but I need to add:
Suburban sprawl and gas sucking cars/SUVs/trucks have been detrimental to our country. oh, and WALMART
Suburban sprawl has destroyed our environment and our communities. It has left vibrant cities decimated and cohesive towns submerged. Walmart has torn the heart out of the small town. How many of you have been to rural america and seen the small main street boarded up and left soulless only to have a huge Walmart on the edge of town, at the highway intersection, sucking up all the economic activity.
Big gas guzzling vehicles are the biggest hypocracy. Americans are so tied into the middle east for our energy needs. If we gave up our big cars and subjugated our egos to be willing to drive smaller/ gas efficient vehicles we could then disengage our selves from the mess in the middle east and let those folks run their own lives.
It should be patriotic to drive small cars. Those of you who have to tank up every other day because you only get 8 miles to the gallon are giving support to the culture bent on the destruction of the USA.
I say slap a 3 dollar a gallon tax on gasoline, use the money to rebuild our street car lines and other forms of public transportation. We could quit spending so much money on defense (e.g. don't need middle east oil then that area will not be vital to american selfinterests). What the big defense contractors lose in government military contracts (e.g. Northrup Grumman/Lockheed) can be made up for in civil contracts....... some one has to build all the street cars that would be used!!. these folks are after all engineering companies. This would also force people back into the cities to live and work. To those of you who think high energy prices will destroy our economy need only to look at Europe to see that they manage to not only get by but thrive at gas prices close to 4 dollars a gallon.
I could go on and on......... oh well
I agree with the Wal Mart part.. but talking about driving little cars is talking about changing the heritage of this country.
Move to Europe.

You think big cars with poor gas mileage is what the founders had in mind when the Constitution and Bill of Rights were drawn up? Heritage of the country???
