Whats up with the ending on planet of the apes?

I just seen the movie tonight, and thought it was great, but i dont understand that whole lincoln thing at the end. what happened?

its a great movie, i would hate to spoil it for you, you should really go and see it. its got different twists then the origanal, and the ending leaves everyone wondering.
it must be leading up to "return to the planet of the apes".

I liked the movie, great make-up ...........I guess the ending means tune in for the next sequel....weird ending
