what's the lowdown on prawns?

no one here seems to use them as a cutting source, why is that?

they are high protein, no carb and great macronutrient profile here.

is it the expense?

Prawns at canned tuna's price = prawns everyday

In the US, aren't they pretty much considered shrimp??

Purists may argue that the term "prawn" is reserved for the shrimp's close relative, the Dublin Bay prawn. The Dublin Bay prawn resembles a shrimp, but it's distinguished by its small pincer claws (similar to those on a lobster) and a narrower body. Sometimes called Florida or Caribbean lobsterettes or French langoustines, these shellfish can be hard to find in markets. And unlike shrimp, Dublin Bay prawns are usually cooked with their heads on. The claws make quite an attractive presentation, although they're too tiny to render any meat.

^^ Yeah, I know personally that prawns are different than shrimp technically cuz I like to cook & all, but I think here in the States, a lot of people use "prawn" & "shrimp" interchangeably.....

Once it is deep fried and dipped in a thick layer of full fat mayo you can hardly tell which is a shrimp and which is a prawn ;)

Isn't it in Ireland that you find one of the best beef in Europe ?

Ireland's beef is good, but is no comparison to Sweden or Finland's reindeer. I hate to eat Rudolf, but damn is it good.

Hot chicks
Great beef
Good public services and welfare system

Is it Heaven ? :)

You're forgetting about the crazy soccer matches and great beers...

But seriously, Irish people are not good looking...I don't think #1 counts. Thank god I'm only half Irish or I might have been in trouble.

If you're afraid of the bacteria just eat plenty of onions, which usually are served wioth the kebabs, they'll "kill" most of these bacteria

brunette said:
not so, unfortunately some serve them with fried onions, i'm assuming you meant fresh?

raw onions of course with garlic, sweet and hot red pepper = bactericide
