Whats the deal

So i know that sugar has no real value interms of getting lean. But i was wandering someone the other day asked me specifically why sugar is bad for you. I kinda did not know what to tell him, so whats the deal with sugar and a form of carbohydrate? an why is it that bad for you?

The more insulin released, the more fat-gain is immenent. Thus, sugars (the fastest absorbing carbs) will spike your 'blood sugar' levels; consequently, giving the body a higher absorption rate, and some amount of fat-gain.

ahhhhh makes sense. this is what happens with candy and coke etc etc. IF one was to drink a coke or have some candy, WHEN would be a good time to do this?
 
I've seen multiple people (myself included) take ALA with cokes. When I was about 8% I was drinking 1-2 a day and not noticing any effect.
