I have a desktop computer that I never use since I bought a laptop.

Gateway:
1.4 GHz AMD Athlon
512 MB ram
20 GiG harddrive
CD burner(24x I think)
mouse+ keyboard(duh)
cambridge speakers
10/100 ethernet card + 56k modem
17in HP monitor +
15in KDS flat screen LCD monitor
Windows XP home ed.
average HP printer(don't know the specs)
a ton of software blah blah blah

Its only about 5 or 6 months old, so what do you guys think its worth?

I already had the 17 in monitor, and really liked the flat screen so I bought it too(never go back to a big ass CRT again).

I was thinking about a $1000 too, since your getting a flatscreen plus a decent printer.

Its a good computer, I just don't have a use for it anymore.

The flatscreen probably carries the most value, followed by the monitor. Ram and disk space are dirt cheap, so you won't get much out of that. Same with ethernet cards/modems/mouse/keyboard/cd burner/speakers (unless you have awesome speakers like the Klipsch Promedia or something to that extend). Windows XP is easily downloadable, so that's not worth much. The CPU itself barely sells for $100 nowadays I think. What kind of monitors are they?

The 17in is a hewlett Packard and the 15in flat screen is a KDS. Not that it matters, but most people aren't going to download XP off of the internet(atleast the average person).

What about that activation key I heard so much about with windows xp? I was thinking about downloading it but passed because of that and windows 2000 works just fine.
