Counteract the fat-loss proces: NO. Not likely, maybe you mean if it would refill muscle glycogen while preventing most fat-loss. Yes and NO, all depends on the amount of stored glucose/type of diet and the intensity of the workoug. Remember you're not burning calories after your workout, most calories are burned during.

really. it was my understanding that in any kind of interval work, (free weights included), most of the increase in caloric burning occurs after the workout, not during.

well better health equals better metabolism, weights = more muscle, muscle burns more cals than fat, so in a sense you are right... but the activity in itself burns a lot of cals...

That's mostly true for high-intensity and heavy training that tends to increase the metabolic rate for a significant time post-workout. Contrary to the usual low-intensity cardio that people do.....
Overall, I would think that calories burned pw w/ low-intensity (or regular weight training) cardio are not as much as people believe.

so, back to my question...if i eat muffins etc post workout, it'll have the same effect as having clean foods such as white rice - as long as im having the r-ala pre-hand...

As long as they are fat-free you will probably experience the same or close to the same effect.........
