What to do on a Saturday?

I've become so complacent I don't know what to do? It will be just me and my daughter here in a couple of hours. How about some ideas? I don't like getting out around people anymore, but I can sacrifice for her. She is 10. It has to be something cheap. I'm saving money to buy a place for the 2 of us.

Go to the zoo.

Go to the library [free].

Take advantage of cheap movie tickets - usually a buck or two before 3 pm.

Rent some flicks at Hollywood video - most locations have free kid rentals.

Girls are usually into arts & crafts - hit a craft store and take advantage of the post Halloween sales and pick up some stuff she can use to make Christmas ornaments.

McDonalds usually has .99 cent kids meals on the weekends - added bonus - Hello Kitty toys in the kids meals.

Thanks for the ideas. The cheap movie tickets sounds like a good idea if I can get her to sit still that long.

Go out and make an autumn wreath to hang up. Find some thin stick or branches that are still green and can bend. Make a wreath shape with them. Find some pretty autumn leaves and glue them to the wreath. That should take a couple of hours and you and your daughter will have spent some quality time together getting outside and it doesn't cost anything.

Bake an apple pie. Go to the supermarket and pick up a bag of McIntosh apples and what ever else you need. It'll take about 2 hrs. to shop and do the prep work and bake...and cost only a few dollars. If you are dieting, give it to a neighbor!

Go to the Puppies and Kittens store or ASPCA and let her play with the animals. We do that here on rainy days and my daughter's the same age as yours. We actually had her last b-day party doing this...it was a sleep-over party...we took the girls (8 little girls) to the pet shop and stayed there for over an hour. Then we went out for pizza and back home for the night. The pet store doesn't cost a thing and most little girls LOVE little animals! Just leave your wallet in the car if you're tempted to bring home a pet. LOL

Good luck and enjoy your day!!! :)

Thanks a lot for the ideas. Haha, but the wreath and apple pie things are for women. I could never do that stuff or have the patience for it. The pet shop is a good idea for us.

That wreath is a great idea! She can even set up a little stand and sell them! Kids crafts - nothing pulls at the heartstrings more!

OK...I can see you not wanting to do some domesticated stuff if you're a guy. Didn't realize that when I posted. Shame on me! LOL

Is there a favorite board game you played when you were a kid that she doesn't already have? Battleship or something? Hubby mentioned the game "Clue" to my daughter last week. Well...one night after the gym we surprised her and took her to ToysRUs but wouldn't tell her what we were getting her...we did say it wasn't anything big though. Funny thing...she asked us to give her a CLUE and we had some fun with that one. Anyway, you could spend under $15 for an old board game and then spend a couple of hours teaching it to her and playing it. My daughter treasures things like this...doing something Dad did when he was a kid.

Regardless of everything else said on this post....just spend time with her. Be proud that you are a Father that actually wants to see his kids. Most of the times, the kids dont care about what they are doing, as long as its with Daddy or Mommy.

Just have fun, ask her what she wants to do and enjoy the time you have with her. Even if it means walking through the mall and looking at clothes, or whatever she likes. Just enjoy her company.

That's the most intelligent shit I've ever seen you post, your a good bro Kronk, with a hot wife....LOL!!!

...What everybody else said. I don't have a lot of expendable cash and I hae two birthdays coming up, I work a lot of hours so I don't get to see my girls all that much. It's usually homework and baths, bedtime... you know, NOT FUN stuff.

BUT -

They don't care!!!

All they care about is that they are with me.

Show her how to cook, rake leaves together, wash the car....

10 year old girl?....

WALK AROUND THE MALL AND WINDOW SHOP.... WHAT ELSE?! :D

Ditto to what others have said..basically spend time with her. I usually do free and active stuff, like go to the park or playground, wash cars or do yardwork or just walk in our backyard, picnics, refinishing furniture and other small home improvement jobs, bike riding or blading, and other stuff they like to do. Have fun! :)

I have a few friends on the women's volleyball team and I'm going to watch them play today. Free to get in and free popcorn and drinks!!!! :)

They are pretty intense too...

No doubt...and watching the team is addictive after a while too. It is cool to see a friend out there giving it all they have, coming from behind, and winning. Intensity...and food.

Thanks for all the replies. We went shopping, which was torture. Got an Ice Cream which costs $3.39 for a dip(robbers), went to dinner.

I scored tickets to the Florida Panthers NHL game tonight vs. Atlanta..

Im not a hockey fan but hope theres some good action and a few fights.

Not a bad way to spend a sat night.
