It is a fiber. I get mine at my local whole food store. Works EXTREMELY well. experiment with amounts to your desired consistancy. Start slowly, it doesnt take a lot. I like VERY thick shakes (I eat them with a spoon) and I only use btwn .25-.5 tspns per shake.
