You probably have to go to edit options/profile in your profile and check to see what it says for you concernig avatars and fix it.

go to profile in the blue bars at the top of your screen, click on edit options, thread view options, 'show user's avatar in their posts?', click yes

I suppose you wanted a "literal" definition of the word "avatar"? I assume you knew, for elitefitness, that it was the picture below the name, however, the word Avatar means so much more...

An avatar can represent the general philosophy that makes up a person... An avatar is also a divine being that has appeared in human form... say, Jesus Christ... would be an avatar of God.
