What should your bodyfat be when starting a cycle?

Over the last year, I've seen people post a thread about them starting up a cycle....

And when they are overweight, I've noticed the vets tell them to lose some bodyfat before the cycle. Why exactly is this?

What is the optimum bodyfat to be at when you start a cycle, and why?

I'd love to start a cycle at 8%, but not sure if it's worth it.
 
for one reason, you want to inject the AS into the muscle not the fat.
if yuor 8% , your fine do start a cycle
 
Well that and about 35% of the weight you put on in a heavy mass cycle is fat now if your at 17% like I am now(cutting) and put on another 10lbs. or so of fat that could put you into the 21%-22% brackett and the more fat you have the harder to cut later especially if you're an Endo like me.
 
AAS are not miracle makers either. A lot of people think that some of them "burn" fat.. which is not true. AAS are a lot more effective when you can see the muscle working. It allows you to get the mind/muscle connection. That said... there really is no perfect bf% to start with. Everyone has different goals. Some powerlift.. other bodybuild.
 
I'd say 12% or lower. Unless you don't mind being pudgy or easily shed unwanted bf. I just started 2 weeks ago and I'm hovering around 13%. It's winter tho so fuck it!
 
I think it all depends on your goals.. if your 8% right now.. then go right ahead.. you could do just about any sort of cycle.. granted your diet is right.. and be perfect..

me on the other hand.. did my first cycle when i was around 23%bf.. did a test/tren cycle.. i gained around 20lbs or so.. had a pretty clean diet.. but now am having a hard time losing the bodyfat.. but i also have noticed that i lose the fast much faster now after my cycle than i did before.. adding to the notion that muscle burns more than fat.. and if i put on 20lbs.. and 10 of that was muscle.. when i go to cut up and diet down.. i can lose weight much faster because my metabolism is higher..

something to think about for those wanting to cut.. "bulk" cycles can help you cut.. if done right.
 
Here is the answer to your question. (Why the people in the know, say to cut your BF down before a cycle) When AAS aromitizes into non-desirable by-products such as estrogen and progesterone, that takes place in and around the fat cells. The more fat you have, the more conversion from test to bad stuff will be going on.

ok...i am 6'1 246lbs 9% BF...i will start contest prep in jan...should i lean up more or should i grow a little more and jeperdise my leanness....
 
Any BF under 12 - 13% is probably fine. Hell, you don't need to get any bigger, if you are 6'1" and 246 at 9%.

That's sacreligeous! Everyone needs to get bigger. 6'1", 246 is good but wouldn't 256 be better?

i with ya ...i am not a slouch right now by any means but would love to be about 255 - 260 and be under 10%BF....i could compete at the top of the heavy weights...
 
If you plan on eating like a slob then below 12%; if you eat sensibly in large amounts then you could start and finish at 14-15%.
