what kind of steak

I am trying to eat red meat at least once a week... What kind of steak should I buy? I am a little confused about the beef terminology (bottom round vs. top round, etc)

not so sure on the top round, bottom round so i bump that

But I manly stick to Filet Mijion(my fav), London Broil, Extra Lean Ground Meat and Beef cubes

for lean steaks i usually go eye of round or sirloin tip. i'll warn you though. according to giant eagle they're "steaks for braising" but i just cook and eat. i'll warn you though, don't expect a juicy steak if you get either of these, especially eye of round, it is a little tougher.

I used to work at a steakhouse, so here's what I can tell you...

Sirloin is pretty lean...a good all around steak if you're not sure what you like. Not too much fat and relatively flavorful.

Ribeye...the fattiest (also the best tasting in my opinion). It is "marbelized," meaning that there are "veins of fat" that run throughout the ribeye, giving it that very juicy, flavorful taste. I'd eat these only on occasion.

Strip steak...I'd say more flavor than the sirloin, but not exactly tender.

Steaks in general tend to lose their flavorfullness the more you cook them...so stay away from "well-done"

My dad gets the prime rib and it takes like an hour to cut off all the fat on that steak so Id probably stay away from prime rib too.

you're right cdownie927...prime rib is actually the same cut of meat as the fatty ribeye...just slow roasted instead of thrown on the grill! Now I'm craving a big slab of meat...yummm!
