What is victory? (According to the GOP)
I was listening to Rush yesterday. He was, what else, bashing liberals as usual. What struck me odd though was how he kept ranting about how we have to stay in Iraq until the US has achieved victory; how all the options about varying exit strategies were nothing more than various forms of defeat. We must win the war! On and on he went. That got me thinking…What constitutes victory, what is winning the war? Which war? The war in Iraq? The war on terror? He never said.
We’ve all talked about whether or not the US should be involved or not, whether or not there are WMD. We don’t need to go into that here, the fact is we are there like it or not. The Republicans keep saying victory at all costs now that we are there. So, what is victory?
