What is this administration going to do?

George Bush is a personable, likable guy. That does not mean that he will help the welfare of the citizenry. I can't help but think that all this focus on Home Security and wars abroad are hiding the fact that this country is cracking in its foundation.

Guess I should have known the GOP would help the rich, they always have. Too bad the dems are affiliated with so much crazy, dreamy crap. Neither party has much chance of any restoration of the functional family which should be priority #1 in my opinion.

You honestly think that the restoration of the functional family should be a priority of any government? Isn't that the providence of religion, counseling etc.

Counseling is lucky if does more good than harm. Religion has nary a chance for a multitude of reasons. A primary one is that it has lost substantial influence and can not mandate for its return.

If a government is not concerned about the quality of life of the citizenry then they can all rot in hell.

Doesn't that create a more intrusive government. Now not only do I pay taxes, but I have some bureaucrat telling me how or how not to raise my family. No I think I will pass.

One price of freedom, is that some people choose to use theirs to do absurdly stupid things.

Government being concerned about quality of life and restoring a functional family (which in itself probably can't be quantified) are not the same thing.

There are dozens of ways to benefit the family without telling people how to do it.

I bit off a little too much here for a chat board discussion I believe.

Perhaps, or perhaps I am taking your "Restoration of the Family" to literally.

I did a search for the purpose of government and didn't find anything that leads me to believe that family is one of those purposes. Welfare of the citizens, yes, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with family.

I would think there are other things that would/should fill that #1 priority spot.

What the hell is a functional family anyway? Define it for me please.

I have this vision of "The Osbournes" replacing "Leave It To Beaver"

The first thing that pops into my head is parents that can live together under one roof and raise their children with both male and female leadership.

It is easy to identify causes of divorce. Debt and infidelity are #1 and #2.
