In this opionion thread not only are we looking for the best guitar lead we are looking for the best guitar lead to go along with the song.

I think "Stranglehold" by Ted is one of the best. "Realing in the Years" is a very good lead for the song matter of fact it is said that realing in the years was Jimmy Pages favorite lead.

Working Man by Rush has a killer lead in it also.

well do you concur with mine or which ones do you think stand out as an awesome lead that goes well with the song?

Try listening to Crazy Train (or ANY Ozzy w/Randy Rhoads) with a different solo. His solos are an integral part of Ozzy's songs. Virtual 'compostions within a composition'. Something I strive for when playing solos. Something that is musical and memorable.

Many other rocks solos can be altered, or improvised, with little notice.

Little Wing by SRV/Hendrix.

For some reason, the solo for November Rain is rather memorable. Not lauding it for technical wizardry, btw, just saying that its been years since I heard it and I can still hear it. Maybe I need help.

All good choices......

Shine on You Crazy Diamond - off Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album.

More of a jam than distinct solo, but its mesmerizing when Gilmour hits those first four notes........

I love that song. When I was going to college working the overnight shift at a gulf gas station. I would crank that song up when it came on the radio and then stand on the counter playing air guitar to it. You should have seen the look on the customers faces when they came in the store. I would tell them wait just a second here comes the good part.
