What constitutes a legal script for var?

Huh? A doctor can write one for many reason - IWL (Involuntary Weight Loss) is often sited. I know there are some restrictions on what they can write it for because it is scheduled, but they have enough leway they can write it for many reasons...

What psychedout is saying is that can any of us get a var script...? IWL is an oft cited symptom, but is always the result of an underlying condition. AIDS wasting syndrome, burn victims, neuro-muscular disorders, etc. No otherwise healthy person can convince a true doctor to put them on var. The stuff is so damn expensive, I wouldn't doubt if insurance companies look very closely at var scripts... it will be hard to find a "cool" doctor to write the rx for you. Just my opinion.

There are actually a few enlightened doctors who will write you a script for it because they are not opposed to elective use of the substance. Getting the insurance company to pay for it is, of course, another story. My insurance company will pay for it if a doctor will write a letter of medical necessity on my behalf, which is much more unlikely to happen than getting the script in the first place. A much better idea is to get the script (finding a doc who will write it for you is not hard if you are resourceful) and then going through a compounding pharamcy and get their version of Ox - it's still expensive, but not nearly as bad as BTG Oxandrin.

Getting a Rx for var sounds like a dream I had once. :)

If someone knows any "forward thinking" docs in TX....pm me...lol.

AIDS, some cancers, badly burned persons, growth problems (children), stuck in a wheelchair and your weight is dropping quickly....

In other words, your life must suck big time in order to have such script. And that's assuming your doctor believes in Ox, which is another game.
