OK So there are 3 main browsers at the moment that are being used:
Internet Explorer - Most commonly used over the world. It hasn't been updated for years and is very prone to popups, spyware, and security vulnerabilities
Mozilla Firefox - Great browser that comes in 2nd overall in internet use. I attribute the 2nd plate not to IE being superior but because it is less known and IE comes forced upon everyone who uses MS Windows by default.
Opera - Great browser that I might consider superior to Firefox in some aspects, but even lesser known. The reason it is lesser known is mostly due to it costing $$ in the past. They have since made it completely free and are coming out with version 9.0 very soon (hopefully) which has some amazing features and renders webpages/CSS standards better than any other browser.
For those of you who have never used Firefox, or Opera, I STRONGLY urge you to go grab Firefox here:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Learn how to used tabbed browsing and some of the keyboard shortcuts. Spend at least 1 (fair) week on this before making your decision and see if you don't like it better than IE. I promise that with a serious look at firefox you will not want to use IE again unless you absolutely have to.
For those of you who have used Opera but not Firefox or the converse, go try the other one out. I assume that if you were able to find/install one of these you can easily find/install the other and give it a fair shot.
I personally use all 3 browsers as well as a few other browsers since I am a web developer and need to make sure everything works perfectly in all browsers, but for everyday use I use firefox or opera depending on which one happens to be open.
