what are YOURS?

To this day I can not get through the first verse of silent night without tearing up, especially if it is in my language - lotta sadness connected to that.

As for favorites - any christmas song in my language. It is Magyar tradition for children to dress up like mary and the angles (for groups of girls) or shepards and angels (for groups of boys) and go from house to house singing very old traditional songs and performing a play of the christmas story. One year I was lucky enough to be chosen to play mary (usually the most difficult part). There was a song that I sang to the doll (baby jesus) that I rocked in my arms. It was the very first lullaby that I sang to my oldest child after she was born. I sang an alternative melody to "Away in the Manger" to my second baby and I don't know why but I can't remember the first lullaby I sang to my younger two.

After that I have always loved, "Angels we have heard on high" "Adeste Fidelis" "Halleluja Chorus" "Oh How A Rose E'er Blooming" Annie Lenox's version of "Winter Wonderland" Faith Hill's "Where are you Christmas" Geroge Michaels' "Last Christmas" and what is that one that EVERYBODY knows the tune to, but NOBODY knows the words?... hehehehe "Sleigh Ride". I think I am the only person I know that actually knows ALL the words. What can I say? I grew up singing in the choir.

I really do love Christmas music but for obvious reasons I just couldn't bear to listen to it for the past 3 years.

Next year will be different... I hope. :)
