Salvation Army people ringing their little bells in your face everytime to try to walk into Wal-mart?
I hate them for making me feel like a cheap shit. For one I do give but it isn't always the same people there, I can't give everytime I walk through the door and not only that these are the days were most don't pack cash around...atm for almost everything!! I know it for a good reputable charity but I am not even sure how I feel about some of the shady people that is collecting the money. I feel that if you want to give you will but not walking in to do your grocery shopping and then get dirty looks if you pass them by.

anyone else with me on this?

I am with you K. I remember in the early 90's 60 minutes did an investigative report on a well known charity., I cannot remember the name of it however Im sure someone will remember this. Anyway the President of the charity had a mistress and she was on the payroll and was given a penthouse in downtown Manhattan,. They also discovered that only 26 cents out of every dollar ever went to the needy. I think it was UNICEF however I could be wrong. I have not given to a charity since. So Im with you...... What about the people with the buckets at the stoplight trying to get beer money for the weekend..

I stopped caring long ago.

I dont owe anyone anything. And that bell straight pisses me off. My hearing isnt the best, but that thign pisses me off.

oh good, I am glad I am not the only one to feel this way. I was feeling somehow shallow when I would pass and see the pictures of kids and kept walking. I just don't believe it gets to where it should. And oh Lord the buckets at the red lights...so they are freaking everywhere! I sure as hell don't trust 1 dime of that to go for any good.

So sad that we have become so untrustworthy to not give

I feel bad for them, but not sorry. We all have choices in our live and sometimes we are forced down certain paths, but I would say 5-10% of the very poor were forced down that path with no way out.

Like a friend at work, 27 with two kids and a wife. He was the only one working, his wife started a 20 hour a week job for 5.15 an hour. He bought her a new KIA and bought himself a new truck. Now he may have to file for Bankrupcy, or however you spell it. I feel bad for him, but not sorry. He always spends 50 bucks a week on weed and pills for him and his wife. He choice that path, he isn't 21 without kids anymore.

Being from Kentucky and all, I've seen how many people destroy their lifes over pills and meth, or how many people trick the Welfare system and their Church to give them hand outs to help support their habits or so they don't have to work. People need to learn to grow up before they are 30 and destroyed their lifes because they wanted to party and still have fun. Just because you don't have the ability to see what will become tomorrow of your actions today doesn't mean you should put a strain on me.

We have a panhandling law in Escambia County, FL, that allows them to panhandle in the right-of-way as long as they are wearing a flourescent orange vest like construction workers there. There's a group of about 20 of them that swap corners each day, and this is how they earn a living. Everyone is able-bodied, they just look unkempt. It pisses me off every time I see them attempting to live off the generosity and guilt of others. Bottom-feeders, all.

A lot of the Bell-ringers here are doing it as Community Service sentences and they irk me too. I owe them nothing. The Salvation Army is a decent charity, though. I contribute to them by other means, giving decent used clothing and furniture to their thrift stores.

yeah, the ones here with the buckets in the road always wears the orange vest too..I was wondering why. Your right they always look like the "bottom-feeders" as you so called them. lol

and yes the Salvation Army is a good charity but I don't think they get the money that is scamed from the shoppers at Wal-mart.
