What are you afraid of?

I would say that the only thing that would instill fear in me would be the unknown, but there's no controlling the unknown, so fuck it. ;)

Nothing. I am afraid for my kids. i never want them to feel any pain. But for my self? nothing.

I keep having these weird toughts of having my hands crushed by heavy machinery gears, not sure why. I guess I fear that

I'm afraid of fire or drowning, heights & flying....Petrified of flying!!

life is all about pain, mang.

That wont stop me from killing or being killed to save them from them not from the inevitable, but from the random act of sensless sadness. Teach, serve, protect, cherrish, respect.

I was actually asked this same question yesterday at work and I couldn't come up with
anything. I mean, everyone is afraid for their family, but it's not like I would ever sit around worrying that something might happen.

After giving it some more thought, the only thing that I can come up with is either being blind or being paralized. I know that there are millions of people who live like this and have very productive lives, but I don't think that I would be mentally strong enough to handle something like that if it ever happend to me.
I'm pretty sure that every paralized or blind person felt the same way before the became that way though. It's amazing what you can deal with if you don't have a choice.

Yeah, that's a biggie. My biggest phobia is traumatic amputation.

I don't know if you'd classify it as a fear but I HATE, I'm using the word HATE here, SPIDERS! Throw anything else my way but keep the F@*king spiders away from me!

I get really uptight being in water I can't see the bottom. Water skiing, jetskiing and sailing are all great until I fall in that water. Not knowing what is under me freaks me out a bit. So, I am going to learn scuba to help me get over it. That is the only thing that really gets to me.

Losing a tooth.

No shit, like having a wreck and my mouth hits the steering wheel and the tooth is knocked out.

That thought scares me shitless. Mainly because I have perfect teeth, no spaces between them and I can only imagine the pain..... of the blow......the force....... the tooth bending at an angle........ and then......... the gum giving way..... tearing....... and the tooth busting loose.

This goes back to my childhood. Jumping on a trampoline I watched a friend do a flip and come down mouth first on the metal frame. He jumped up with all four top teeth missing. Blood spurting everywhere. Just gushing all over the place. His mom rushed him to the emergency room, while the rest of us look around in the grass for his teeth. We couldn't find even one. His mom called his dad from the emergency room and the reason we couldn't find his teeth is because the impact shoved them straight up through his gums and they were lined up behind his nose and in his sinuses. The doctor told him he was lucky to have survived that.

ouch....

i busted out a front tooth when I was a little kid falling on my face on a hard laundromat floor. it was a baby tooth luckily, but it was NOT ready to come out. lots of pain and blood.

I broke my front teeth about 3 times.
During basketball game I got run over by someone and landed straight on my face. My front teeth were missing.
About a year later my brother knocked one of them out with an elbow. That almost didnt hurt at all. I could hardly feel it.
And the worst one, even though I already had fake teeth was when I jumped in a pool and hit the bottom right with my face. Now that was bad, I can still remember the pain to this day.

Car accidents... My mother told me when I was really young I would cry everytime I saw a crash on TV.

I am pretty adventorous and enjoy things like hiking/camping, scuba diving, flying...etc. I wanna try skydiving and white water rafting.

not finding out what I would really love to do with my life until I'm too old to take full advantage of it.

btw AAP wtf dude that's sick.

I use to be terrified of helicopters when I was about 6. I would run inside my house if I was outside and heard one coming. That fear came from once having a helicopter land in our yard when I was 5. It was a FBI helicopter. They were looking for some criminal that they thought was hiding in the woods next to my house. They could only land in our yard because we had the largest yard. When they landed the ground shook so much it scared me. I had that fear until I was about 9.

Now, I fear the dark. I will not go outside in the dark if I don't have to. I won't go outside by myself at night. I will only go out with someone I completely trust. I think my fear is more a fear of being hurt by someone who may be hiding behind a bush or something than the actual darkness of the night. Sort of a fear of what could be out there at night.

I also fear drowning.

I'm one step behind the boomer generation and I'm afraid of the carnage that will be left in the wake of them getting old. I fear for the devastaion to the existing systems of healthcare, pensions, stock market, etc. On that same note I'm afraid of the governments trying to make up the shortfalls by opening the doors of immigration wide open to pretty much anyone who resembles a human.

I'm also afraid of taking a long time to die. People think that we're living longer whereas I feel that we're just dying longer. I'm not sure that I want to (or could afford) to live to 100+ years old.

Fear

The thought of being afraid is what scares me. I don't ever want to fear anything. So I fear fear itself.

Fearing fear itself is the only thing that actually makes someone not afraid, when you think of it.

If I woke up and found myself 1 mile from the shore in the ocean wearing a life vest. I'd be scared shitless. I'm terrified of sharks.
