What are the steps in fully shaving your head?

I just found out that my secretary has cancer and is going in for Kemo this week and for the next 6 months. She will be losing her hair. I gave her a promise that when the hair loss starts to happen I would let her shave my head complete. (for support) I know that ya pretty much shear it off but do ya use a razor for the rest and then wax your head for protection? What are the full steps so I do it right? Might even keep it for awhile and get a tan.

Here's what you do:

Buzz it down with clippers until it's short enough to shave with a Mach III.

Lather up your noggin with shave cream, and then shave your head with before mentioned Mach III. Trust me, those things get your melon nice and smooth.

You'll want to put on some SPF or some good tanning lotion if you are going to be outside for any length of time. Dandruff is nothing compared to a peeling scalp.

You don't have to use anything special after the shave, just wipe off the excess shaving cream and your done.

BTW, I hope your secretary pulls through and they get the cancer. And you should be commended for being supportive. What does your wife/girlfriend think of your decision?

That's a very nice thing to do. I would object though if I were her, unless you were going to do it anyway.

Shave it down with the clippers using the #1 guard. Get in the shower and let it steam for awhile. Lather your head up with an aloe-vera based shaving cream; use a Mach 3 or Venus. Afterwards, apply some baby lotion.

My wifes OK with it (Just ok) I have always wanted to try it. I have talked about it for the last 3 years. Now I finally have a good reason to go ahead and go through with it. I'm just hope my noggin isn't totally ugly lookin when it's done. You know like havin a divit in it or a point at the top.

LOL if it turns out that bad, you could let it grow out a little, but keep it short just to represent the fact that you are supportive. I am sure your secretary understands. :D

i shave my head and most of my face every morning (or whenever i fall outta bed) with a norelco advantage electric shaver.

i went "topless" several years ago, like being smooth so much i am NEVER going back!

My worst nightmare is if I end up with John Goodman head. You know the guy from Rosanne. I have a wide jawline and cheekbones and my bone structure goes inward at the earline.

mach 3 is the best, all though i found that shampoo works better
than shaving cream.....in my opinion, maybe because the shampoo is slick thus causing less friction....

been shaving my head now 3-4 years, this is the best way.......
being in the shower helps a lot also, i think because the warm
steamy air helps the scalp(pores) loosen........

It takes 4 1/2 minutes for the hair follicles to become completely saturated. Leave the shave cream on til the end of your shower, then shave.

DAMN!!! that is someone who knows more than me....try that, i will also..........

but....now that i think of it....shouldn't they put that message on the side of the damn shaving cream!!!!!!!!

P.S CRIMSON COAL.....THIS IS A STAND-UP THING YOU ARE DOING MAN, hope things go well for her.......

It' really nice of you to support your secretary this way!

My stepbrother got Hodgekins (type of cancer) when he was a freshman in high school. All his friends shaved their heads when he started losing his hair from the chemo. I think it really helped him to have their support, especially with how cruel other kids can be at that age when you look different.

Well it's done! I am now tottaly shaved up top. I have a rather nice cranium except for the wrinkle on the back of my head. Not a roll but a wrinkle. One big prob I have is I can still see dark spots that I can't quite get out. Can you actually nair your head to get those last few areas that are hard to get out? I have almost black hair and it's really hard to get rid of the shadow of hair left. Any Ideas? Also I figure I will fake and Bake for the next few days to tan it up. Any thing else I should know? How many times a week should I shave it...etc?

I have no answer about the Nair, although I am surprised to hear that you didn't get all of it. What razor did you use?

If you try shaving against the grain, that helps too.

I shave my head every day, except for weekends. I have fast growing hair, but somedays it needs a break, so it can grow out longer, and then shave smoother.

Just shave it whenever you think it's long enough to shave, or feel comfortable with it.

Definately get some tanning lotion, your head will tan with the rest of your skin and blend in better!

I used a mach 3 razor and went over my head about 3 times. I am off to pick up a headblade in hollywood in a little while. I hear those work pretty well. I think i'm gonna like this look once I get it down. My head is kind of rashed in the back from razor burn that I gave myself trying to shaveright now though.

it does take a few days for the skin to get used to being shaved.....kinda tender, virgin territory back there, huh?

i've gotten so used to the "smooth" look i couldn't picture myself with hair again.....did it on a dare several years ago and liked the look.

props to you for supporting your secretary, dude....outstanding!!!

i used skin bronzer until the tan lines faded down.......DEFINATELY used sun block if you are going to be outside for any length of time....your virgin noggin will burn in a nano-second!!
