What are the +,- of increased Progesterone

i've been hearing a lot that increased progesterone is good to lower estrogen and prolactin. thats the concept behind vitex.

what are the positives and negatives of raised progesterone?

I heard increased levels of progesterone can signifficantly decrease the male sex drive. Do a search on any search engine for progesterone and "male sex drive"

Just the opposite , Increased progesterone increases sex drive. It can be used in small doses of 5mg ED for up to 30 days as an anti-estrogen with deca & tren to combat progestin. It is an estrogen antagonist. I have never heard of anyone using it in this way with AS but older men use the cream for this very reason. So it stands to reason it may have the same effects for depressed progesterone levels due to elevated progestin.

Here is a text book answer. This is not a study. The is what is known and taught to Med Students in medical school

The major influence on breast growth during is estrogen, which acts by the development of prolactin-dependent estrogen receptors. Estrogen dependent receptors are up regulated in the presence of elevated prolactin levels. The first response to rising estrogen levels is an increase in breast tissue growth. The primary effect of estrogen is to stimulate growth in the ductal portion of the gland.

Progesterone antagonizes the alveolar cell prolactin receptor by:
a. inhibiting the up regulation of the prolactin receptor
b. Reducing estrogen binding
c. Competing for binding at the glucocorticoid receptor

Hmm. This is why I hate health studies. Every study is different. Here is what I picked up from a website on estrogens:

Progesterone enhances the development of breasts, curves and a womanly style of emotional response. It also almost always lowers male sex drive to female levels. (If taken via injection, men used to frequent erections or sexual fantasies will discover both absent from their lives following each dose)

I'm not sure if this is so different from the text-boot information you posted. What do you think lone_az?

Bro, I don't think I would read to far into an article written by a transsexual named Jean Marie. What I have posted above is the actual function of the Hormone and its effect on the receptor site. You can do a search on the net and find lots of sites selling progesterone cream to men based on the FACTS list above. The information above is not debatable they are medical facts. Not that it means anything but bodybuilding.com even sells a progesterone cream product. I’m not advocating using massive amounts of progesterone but I think a small amount may help combat gyno formation from Tren & Deca. There is no such thing as progesterone titties. It is progestin that causes the problem. This seems to be a very common misconception here.

Is it a glucocorticoid antagonist or agonist?

Trenbolone is a anti-glucocorticoid. Does progesterone have the same affect or the opposite affect?

I've done some digging, and it seems that progesterone is an anti-glucocorticoid - like tren. This probably explains why it's been shown to increase muscle strength/mass.
