AS help to retain muscle muscle mass while dieting by increasing protein recycling in the muscle cells (and other things). In a strict diet, you lose around 1 pound of muscle mass per one pound of fat mass. With AS the ratio is moved in favor of fat, you lose more fat mass than muscle mass. More muscle mass means more calories burnt while resting. This is an indirect way how AS increase fat loss while dieting. Every AS should do the trick; test, deca, tren, ox, winny; even dbol or abombs help.
winny is often said to be particularly helpful in getting shredded but this is only a visual effect, not one on the fat cells. It does not aromatize but still suppresses the axis; you end up with lower estrogen and this helps to decrease subcutaneous water. It also drives more carbs into the muscle cells which then soak water from surrounding tissue into the muscle. All this gives you a shredded look and its therefore often used in competition preparation; it does not increase fat loss any more than other AS though.
There is one study where oxandrolone showed more potential to rid abdominal fat when compared to testosterone and nandrolone. Unfortunately, Oxandrolone is also several times the price than testosterone goes for. And it (and winny) wreak havoc with your blood lipid profile. I find testosterone + a strict ketogenic diet to be sufficient to lose any unwanted fat and still (almost) keep muscle mass/strenght.
