guindilla said:I was wondering if weetabix is a good source of carbs for bodybuilders and could be used instead of oatmeal for example.
Thanks
guindilla said:So, is it a complex carb?
Thanks
Shinobi said:If you read the nutrition facts on the weetabix box it has sugar on it and automatically is not a complex carb anymore
Ghede said:The presence of simple sugars doesnt magicly destroy the complex nature.
Shinobi said:But you are going to have an insulin spike so whats the point of having a complex carb with sugar on it?!?! Its the same as eating brown rice with barbecue sauce.
Ghede said:RedGuru: Kashi Go Lean rocks. As does Heart to Heart and all the Puffins (Peanut Butter Puffins are damn near exactly like capn crunch, YUM, and the cin. puffins ROCK!)
I didnt say you said itGhede said:I didnt say it was smart OR a good idea to mix them....
Ghede said:Oh, and btw: the GI of any High GI carb is INSTANTLY lowered by the presence of long chain sugars, fats, fiber and/or protein. Add some fat and pro to your mixture of carbs and the rating drops like a rock.

fats and carbs its a no no for me

Ghede said:Ok. If you are in fact eating complex carbs, regardless of how low their Glycemic Index is, you WILL lower the Glycemic Load AND Index by adding smart fats to EVERY time you consume carbs. Thats not opinion. It's science.
Shinobi said:I agree its science but in practise I think thats vary from person to person. I already tried to mix protein, complex carbs and healthy fats and didnt get good results as I do with protein + carb only.
