Was the World Cup Fixed?

France were the better team and if only Zidane had put that header either side of Buffon. A golden chance and I can' believe a player of his experience missed that chance. Then, I can't believe a player of his experience did what followed either....

One asshole missed a kick. Neither goalie came close to stopping anything. Might as well have tossed the dice

I don't know how you could say it was fixed when Zidane should never have been given that initial penalty kick; it was clearly a dive, and Toni had a goal taken away for being offsides when his defender was clearly ahead of him.

it was offside.. just that the reff couldn't really pinpoint who wasn't.. but the decision had to be made there and then.. tough luck.. they won anyway..

that was later atoned for when an obvious infraction in the box was n't called
so france got a PK they shouldn't have, but then didn't get one they should have
I call that evening out
and Toni was offsides,close but

No I agree, France should have gotten the second penalty kick rather than the first.

And Toni was in an onside position for his goal, but another teammate was not. France scored the same way against Brazil when Henry was onside and received a pass to score a goal while Viera was offsides. France was awarded that goal, but Italy wasn't in the final. The position of the teammate is irrelevant because he didn't receive the pass, but I don't think that was obvious to Elizondo. It was a tough call to make because it happened so fast, but they don't get the advantage of instant replays in making their calls, so that's how it goes.
