I'll start what I hope is thought-provoking controversy here.
Their article painted this board real ugly, but did we have it coming?
For the record, I've used gear. I chose to stop using because it was too expensive, too hard to get, and while I got good results, to do better meant just more of the same risks I was getting tired of taking. I have no regrets.
Here. We can talk about the topic openly. If someone wants to start using, they can research, ask questions about how much, what, how and when, and perhaps go forward with some wisdom about using gear safely. This is in contrast to going to a doctor who often knows little to nothing, and will not do right by their patient who is determined to use with or without his help.
I think this board is a good thing. It's a forum to learn about something that you should not pursue unless you know the risks you are going to take and what you need to do to make it worth the trouble.
Let's remember that to an outsider, that isn't how it look.
Bodybuilders and powerlifters do what they do because it's important to them. We are not common criminals. We are people with a passion. If we do use gear, we don't go robbing people to feed our habit, and using gear often makes us better people overall. We know the risks we are taking, and we elect to choose risk to become bigger, stronger, and better.
Non-athletes don't get it. All they see are users glamorizing a "wicked" use of drugs to impressionable young people.
Looking at any given day's posts on this forum, I realize that to someone who doesn't know better, it looks like this is just a hangout for 'roid heads looking to make a score. Let's face it. Even though we don't talk about our sources or try to arrange deals, it does look incriminating the way we carry on.
We are unique and misundrestood people. If we want to prevent another article like the one just printed, we have two basic options.
1. We lock out the site to only registered members so mere lurkers can't get in without proving they are one of us.
2. We take more care about the topics we post and what we say.
We all know what we have to do to get our stuff if we're going to use. Undoubtedly, we are interested in faster, safer, and more reliable means of getting what we need to accomplish our goals, but sometimes we are just plain careless with how we say things.
I suppose the honest question is, "Is it not us to blame for the way the article turned out?" They printed what they thought they saw, and some of it is a reasonable interpretation of how things look around here.
Thoughts? Opinions? Flames?
